3 different bra measurements

First time getting properly fit for a bra and what a waste of time.
M&S 34D
Local shop 1 32D/DD
Local shop 2 28FF or 30EE

FFS I have lost the will. M&S bras clearly didn’t fit and consultant wasn’t particularly interested, but did use a tape measure
Local shop 1 fantastic service, measured me, I purchased one bra but style not too comfortable (cup boning is high) tried others but couldn’t get a good fit. They recommended…
local shop 2. Who looked at my back (no tape measure) said with confidence 30 (I was never a 30, even when I was a stone lighter!) and brought bras in the make I said were uncomfortable a freaking size smaller. I couldn’t breathe they were so tight. So I left.

im just going to have to go and try loads on aren’t I? Trouble is big high street shops with lingerie depts locally have all closed. Hence trying indie shops. Any suggestions?

Bravissimo or Boob and Bust website. Order about 10 but from places that let you return as several do not. Or go to a different town with better shops

Just buy a few 32D / DDs online and see what feels good. Wacoal are comfy. M&S are never right, and the new style of bra fitting tends towards a very tight band that I can't get on with at all.

I went to a shop and bought 36C and 34DD and the 34 DD fits perfectly.

I measured myself at home and going by the old method I was 36C.

Both fit me but the 34" feels much more comfortable and looks better.

Buy and try.

Thanks everyone. I’ll just have to get buying and trying!

Can you measure yourself? What's your back size?

cyncope · 29/07/2023 20:52

M&S usually add 4 inches to the back size and take off a couple of cup sizes to compensate, so 30 does sound about right.

DrinksAnxiety · 29/07/2023 23:36

The strap at the back should be on the slackest hooks, and you should be able to pull it out an inch.
The centre bit in the front should sit flat on your chest bone.
The wires should touch rib under your arm pits, not breast.
There should be no overhang on the cups when you look front on.
You should be able to fit 2 fingers under the straps on the shoulders
The strap should sit in the middle of your back, not higher

All boobs and shapes are different, some bras will look good, others won’t. You need to try lots.

I measured myself as a 32 and the 32 I bought is a good fit. As I said, when I was slimmer I was never a 30

These sizes are actually quite similar

As the band width increases so dues the cup size and as the band width decreases so does the cup size

So for 28 the FF cup would be a similar size to a 34 D or 32 DD

Basically the cup size changes

A C cup is different sizes depending on the band size

Yeah I understand the band/cup sizing. I just know there’s absolutely no way I’m a 30, let alone a 28 (same brand as the 32 which is snug but a proper fit). I couldn’t breathe!
