Earring back stuck inside lobe!

Help!

My earring back has gone inside my piercing. I've got the other side off but now I'm not sure what to do. I think it happened once before but can't remember how I got it out.

Any advice please?

Are you sure!? The butterfly? How big is the hole if you've managed to get a butterfly in it?

Erm other than pushing an earring from the front I think it's a miner injuries visit.

ouch - an ice cube wrapped in something might help numb the area so you can mess about with it? Or do you have a professional piercing salon locally who might be able to help?

happyinherts · 27/07/2023 16:10

Go to a walk in clinic. They'll use tweezers to get it out. I've had this happen twice.

tobee · 27/07/2023 16:11

I'm pretty sure!

I feel like a fool
The thought is making me feel a bit queasy!

My dd is on her way home to help. Otherwise yes minor injuries

Do you have a nearby tattoo/piercing place with a good reputation? Our local one is excellent and just today helped my DD with a problem with her earring. Might be quicker than minor injuries.

Thanks! I have a jewellers that did the piercing. Will try them.

I had this when I was 14 - had to have it cut out at the hospital under local anaesthetic!

tobee · 27/07/2023 17:20

Just back from jewellers who can't help me so off to a&e or minor injuries later. 😬

How does that happen?

KnickerlessParsons · 27/07/2023 17:49

I got the front but stuck inside once, but not the butterfly.
My piercing was newish. It got infected and very swollen and eventually so swollen that the front bobble bit just popped inside.
DM squeezed all the pus out for me and managed to get the earring to pop back out, but dear God it was painful.

Hoping you are ok, OP

tobee · 27/07/2023 23:42

Thank you I'm fine! (If a little sore). I'm not really sure how it happens but the back was quite small. Slight allergic reaction and ear lobe swelling maybe? Idk. The ear was tender and I couldn't feel the back.

Anyway, I went to A&E and was triaged to "urgent care". The nurse tweezered it out pretty quickly, no local anaesthetic needed, and cleaned it up.

Someone phoned me as I was going to triage at 9.02 and I was back home (ten minutes drive) and drinking a glass of wine by 10.00. Pretty good going!

@tobee Glad you are ok, been thinking about you. My DD’s issues was she was overly spraying her ears with antiseptic type spray but leaving them wet. Moisture = bacteria. She is now leaving them alone or blow drying in cool setting.

Thanks for the update, glad you are ok.

I'm in 😮it's happened before and you couldn't remember how you got it out the first time! 😂😂😂
I'm glad it got sorted! When I'm allergic it itches and it gets a bit swollen but not enough to "swallow" the back. I'd try and do an allergy test at home like two earrings made of different materials to see how it goes. If the hole's too big you can get a doctor to stitch it shut and after it's healed you pierce them again. If it's an allergy it could potentially be a serious one, should you need surgery to replace/fix something. You'd need to be seriously unlucky to be allergic and not notice it.

Thank you.

When I went to the jewellers yesterday for advice the guy mentioned that I should come back for a check on the hole.

Suffice to say I'm leaving my ears alone for a bit.

Ah right, yes makes sense about the bacteria.
