eye wateringly expensive!

h3ll0o · 27/07/2023 14:04

Poor quality

mynameiscalypso · 27/07/2023 14:05

It's gone down in quality and up in price (a lot) in recent years.

Moredarkchocolateplease · 27/07/2023 14:06

I had two Oliver bonas dresses that I bought in 2014, wore to death and garnered compliments every time I wore one.

BUT

Now it's a bit ubiquitous, I can't always tell when something is from COS but usually when a handbag is from OB.

Rantypanties · 27/07/2023 14:07

I love their accessories but their prices are a bit steep, especially when there’s no discount codes hiding anywhere on the internet!

TheChosenTwo · 27/07/2023 14:09

Thoughts are: same with every shop! Some things I like and some I wouldn’t wear. I like some of their dresses and jumpsuits and earrings. Don’t buy their bags so can’t comment on those. The quality of them things I have has been okay.

Baconking · 27/07/2023 14:09

It looks better online than real life

TheChosenTwo · 27/07/2023 14:09

The things, not them things 😱

Hoppinggreen · 27/07/2023 14:10

Odd nice thing, they do like pastels though.
I love their homeware

Howtohideasausage · 27/07/2023 14:14

Like a pp I can tell when something is from OB. They also pick a few colours each season and really flog them to death. Coral orange a few years ago, bright blue last year and this year it's green and lavender. The jewellery has become expensive. I fee disloyal for being rude because I used to love the place, but now a lot of the stuff screams 'do you want to give the impression of being quirky, but in a very safe, middle-class, metal elephant drinks trolley/faux 1940s mirror style'. I limit myself to mooching around them when in a train station.

summerdressing · 27/07/2023 14:16

I find it quite studenty, a bit cliche. At the same time I want to buy bits from there but I know they will look cheap when taken out of the shop.

Only item I have from there is a credit card holder, it’s pretty and has a bee on it. It was a bit more expensive than what I’d usually pay but it has lasted well.

AiryFairy1 · 27/07/2023 14:50

i always want to buy stuff from them but their pretty clothing Does Not Suit Me and the homewares, while desirable are £££.
I sometimes buy gifts for friends there though.
Suspect I’m out of their target demo 🤷🏻‍♀️

so true 🤣🤣

Whitewolf2 · 27/07/2023 15:02

Increasingly expensive and as their shops are often at a train station they don’t have changing rooms - I won’t buy clothes if can’t see if they fit ok as I wouldn’t be back in a while to return them.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 27/07/2023 15:53

I get a few bits from Oliver Bonas.

As @Baconking says some things look better onlind than in real life. I saw a nice green striped long skirt online which in real life looked very different. In the same shop I got a midi dress and glitter cardigan and a top (which I need to return!) which were in their sale.

Some things are gems, I got some silver ankle boots last year which are lovely and a dark green leopard print midi skirt which is nice.

Agreed with @CorBlimeyGovnr and @Howtohideasausage, yes they do flog colours to death and it does scream quirky but safe.

The one time last spring when I got some really nice pinky purple geometric glitter earrings from there (got loads of compliments on them) they sold out and didn’t restock them, yet they have silly plastic flower type earrings a lot.

I used to love them but then went off them when they started their own brand which though overpriced I think is better value than before.

Their Cross body bags I see in local boutiques too.

I do think they could reduce prices slightly and less kid in a candy store/cottage core dresses though.

PrimalLass · 27/07/2023 15:58

Used to be better about 10 years ago.

User3826 · 27/07/2023 17:13

I don't get it. The clothes are meh and the home wares are over priced. They're like a rich persons Matalan.

greenteaandmarshmallows · 27/07/2023 17:14

I like their socks

Tahitiansummer · 27/07/2023 17:15

Poor quality rubbish

emeraldsapphire · 31/05/2024 06:56

It's pretty but dull

Haven't they always been like that? The faux quirky I mean?

Withswitch · 31/05/2024 07:00

The colours always looks nice when I walk around it at the station but then I create a mental image of me in said colours sat with my colleagues, who all wear dark or neutral clothes and think I'd look like a silly school girl.

AnnieSnap · 31/05/2024 22:03

I can’t comment on their clothes because I make my own, but I’ve bought several different accessories and always been really pleased with them. I especially like many of their earrings. I have had a problem with two items (two seperate orders) and their customer service have been excellent!

lilyathena · 31/05/2024 22:08

I've never been impressed by what I've seen in there and even in the sales it seems over priced. I really don't get why several of my friends talk about it in tones of adoration.
