Hello, I’ve got fine and coloured hair that gets oily SO quickly. I washed my hair 30 hours ago and it already looks like this. I do have hormonal issues will are probably not helping, I use to have fairly nice hair, has anyone got any recommendations? I can wash my hair every day but I’d prefer every 2 days if I can…! Thanks :-)

I like the John Freida volume shampoo and conditioner.

I only put conditioner on the ends. Also with styling, if you are using straighteners (either to straighten or curl), don’t go anywhere near the roots. If you smooth the hair cuticles then the oil travels down much more quickly I find.

You could try avoiding silicone and reverse washing, which is conditioner first.
Some people use a bit of dry shampoo on the first day before the hair is oily.

With dry shampoo I spray it on the roots before bed, leave it in and then brush it out the next morning. That works much better for me than doing it in the morning.

I'm the same, really fine hair and used to be able to get away with washing every 3 days but now can't even make 2 (peri).

I'm just trying Faith in Nature shampoo and conditioner, definitely an improvement but not perfect.

Drying it so it stands away from your scalp and then just not touching it does help. Dry shampoo before bed on the first night. I use living proof dry shampoo which is expensive but a lot better than the usual powdery ones.

Wash once a week in fairy washing up liquid and lather it up really well and massage your scalp all over. This removes all grease and oil build up.

Do not condition afterwards. You can shampoo and condition a few times in between but you may be better off using a leave in condition rather than a wash out one and apply the leave in one to your hands and run it though the ends of your hair only.

Fairy liquid will be terrible for the colour surely, not to mention irritating for the scalp.

Stop using conditioner, it’s made a big difference to my fine hair. Also, it doesn’t suit everyone, but I love Mane & Tail shampoo (originally for horses!)

L’Oréal in ted bottle - shampoo and conditioner

or the L’Oréal dream shampoo and conditioner (orange bottle) - says for longer hair , but it’s decent shampoo (and smells gorgeous)
