Need help with holiday

I am going on a beach / pool type holiday in august . I normally prefer active holidays so not used to sitting at a beach /pool and have no idea what to wear .
I have put on weight from a 10 to a 14 so I am very flabby in my thighs and tummy. I would never wear a bikini . Have lots of stretch marks, small boobs and very pale skin .
I have some summer dresses- but are these ok around a pool or is everyone in swimwear ?
I am 5ft4, Wrap tops don’t suit as too flat chested .
Tbh I have never been a sunbather/sit still person - so don’t know where to start with what to wear ?

Swimwear would be the norm at a pool!

Swimwear is the norm but I always have a dress as a cover up or you could wear a large T-shirt. People don’t care if you are overweight - all the Italians and Spanish are obese and walk around in swimwear. Have you tried a Tankini? I bought some from Curvissa and the tops are blouson so quite flattering. Some of the bottoms come with a skirt over the pants which hides the top of your thighs.

I’m a 14 and going on my first sun holiday soon. I’ve got a tankini and a bikini, with the assumption that once I’m there I’ll care less about the bikini and wear it when the tankini is drying.

I’ve got a sarong and some light cotton shirts for covering up.

Very light cotton midi dresses for daywear with short sleeves. Also a couple of sleeveless ones, with linen shirts to wear open over them.

You prefer active holidays and you’re not interested in sunbathing? Why are you going on this holiday? Sounds a complete waste of your time and money!

(I also have no interest in that kind of trip, or those types of clothes.)

I’d suggest longer length shorts and summery tops. Or just bright colours that give the impression of beachwear without actually having any connection to getting wet.

The only thing you need to cover up with is SPF. There will be all sorts of shapes, sizes, weights, toned and untoned bodies round the pool. No one cares and neither should you. Pack the swimwear in which you feel comfortable and enjoy!

Thanks for the ideas everyone . I have compromised my own holiday choice for the person I am going with . Hence feeling like a fish out of water !

I would wear whatever I feel comfy in and want to wear. I have fat hanging here and there and personally I don't care what anybody thinks of my body and my clothes. As long as you feel good that's all that matters. Smile

Lots of people wear a kaftan/beach
cover up type thing, useful to throw over a swimming costume if you are going to lunch or just feel a bit self conscious (not that you should)

I would probably try to get one or two although actually the easiest place to get them is often shops in holiday resorts!

Of it were me I would pack.
Swimwear ( 2 sets) and nice flip flops.
Something light and floaty to wear over swimwear to get to the beach/ pool/ pop to the beach bar.
A few more substantial dresses to pull over swimwear to go to lunch.
Some maxi dresses for the evening when bugs might be out.
A few linen shorts/skirts and tshirts and a pair of sandals and / or trainers for day trips.
