Wedding dress help please

I'm in my fifties, size 8-10, hourglass figure. It will be a registry office wedding, either elopement or very small family group. I don't want to wear white. I would prefer to buy a second hand dress and I'm happy to spend several hundreds for the right dress. I look ridiculous in anything too frilly or flouncy so probably something quite understated but I would love the dress to have a wow factor. It will be a winter wedding. Any thoughts/ideas about where to look please?

Why not rent instead? (As you presumably don’t want a dress that might be worn again in normal life?) Lots of dress rental places to choose from.

Pre-owned - I’ve never looked for a wedding dress on Vestiaire but I’m sure they have plenty of gorgeous things that would work.

Vestiaire Collective: Buy & sell designer second-hand fashion.

3 million items, 12,000+ brands. Luxury pre-loved fashion, up to 70% off. Expert authentication, trusted by millions.

Some of the charity shops have specialist bridal shops and most have ebay shops too with occasion wear.

Lots of lovely dresses on Still White with plenty filters to whittle down your choices-colour, length, silhouette etc

Thanks so much. I have considered renting but I would like to re-wear the dress if I don't get one that's too bridal. I hadn't heard of Vestiaire or Still White and after a quick look I've found this which I really like:

I would prefer it in another colour but not black or red which are the only options, although it's much more suited to a summer wedding I think.
I also didn't realise that charity shops have specialist bridal sections so thanks for that, I will take a look.

GAETANNE | Une Jolie Balade

Retro style cocktail dress fake 2 piece, just like wearing a jacket over a suspender dress : a most elegant look! A V-neck, a line of buttons, a sensual square back with zipper, beautiful 3/4 straight sleeves and an exceptional fluidity... a flattering...

The Matches and Net a Porter websites are a good place to start. The Outnet is also a good site - it's like an outlet side for Net a Porter and you can find some wonderful pieces on it.

I'd also contemplate AllSaints. There is a dress style called Estelle which is beautiful.
