What the hell do I wear.

After a hellish 18 months we are in a position to be going to Antigua at the end of November. We don't drive so will be travelling by train from the Bristol area. I'm at a loss to think of an outfit that will do me for both winter travel and not cause me to bake when we arrive.

I think I've solved the footwear as I've bought a light pair of trainers which I can wear thick socks with but it's the rest of the outfit I'm struggling with.

Any ideas as I don't want to have to take a heavy coat and lug it around in tropical heat when I get there

Lightweight puffer jacket and lightweight merino layers that won't take too much room would be my choice.

My puffer. Jacket is ankle length and I don't do wool as it itches

I'd wear a t-shirt under a cashmere jumper and a sleeveless feather down gilet and cashmere beret or beanie. On the bottom, some smart cargo trousers with your trainers.

Thanks for your suggestions but any wool is out, it either itches or gets eaten by moths.

Jersey dress with leggings /thick tights which you remove in plane loo.

the Uniqlo packable down coats would be your best travel option - easy to stuff back in the bag when travelling.

however, you said you are travelling by train to the airport in the uk, what’s your transport at the other end? If it’s a taxi, just take your normal big coat and don’t wear it there. You won’t have to lug it around everywhere, surely you’ll just throw in the taxi at arrival and then hang up in the hotel room until you leave.

also a cardie! Easy to put in your hand luggage just before landing.

just wear layers, you could wear lightweight wide leg trousers, a sweatshirt & keep warm with your puffa. Stuff the puffa into a bag & have a vest top under your sweatshirt. Pack some flip flops in your carry on. Will it even be that wintery?

Silk if you don’t do wool? Silk thermal, silk shirt, light cotton cardie, waterproof. All foldable quite small.

Silk thermals under a dress - you can take them off on the plane.
