Backwards in the USA

Im 55 and off on holiday on Tuesday. Something came up at work this week and I had to miss my appointment to get my eyebrows waxed and tinted.

I had a nail appointment booked somewhere else yesterday and the eyebrow “technician” there said she could fit me in. Bonus!

As she was doing them, she was telling me how amazing they were and how she’d like me to come and model for her training sessions. I was seriously expecting to look gorgeous. But they’re bloody awful. They look like two slugs mated with two hairy caterpillars and (exhausted by their lovemaking) died on my face- in remarkably different positions! I felt like crying.

I went straight from there to my hairdresser-who fortunately restored my faith in humanity. He’s a genius

So, my question is- will it be ok to spend the next three weeks walking backwards in the USA?
And secondly - does anyone have any tips for removing/fading the tint?

They're great, you're just not used to seeing it. They'll look really good in the photos you take.

madeinmanc · 22/07/2023 20:45

*seeing darker brows, I mean

SirVixofVixHall · 22/07/2023 20:50

The best thing for fading dye is clay . Any kind of clay based face mask, nice and thick on each brow, leave on for a while , eg at least twenty minutes, and it will absorb some of the dye and soften the colour.
( Vosene or Head and Shoulders are quite stripping on heads, but too close to your eyes to use on brows) .

SirVixofVixHall · 22/07/2023 20:51

Also - WOW your hair is incredible, and your brows v nice too, just a bit too dark there.

I assumed that was OPs resting face

That is my resting face 🫣. I’m not raising an eyebrow.
Thanks to everyone saying they’re fine.
They have faded out today after following some advice on here and I’m now getting more used to them. 😄

Remember that eyebrows are sisters, not twins - they aren't meant to be exactly the same as your face isn't symmetrical. Each one has to follow its natural shape.

Thanks. That’s a good approach. Trouble is last night they looked like second cousins twice removed!

Fortunately, after some fierce scrubbing, they now look like stepsisters 😊

Why is it always the people who have the most gorgeous hair and eyebrows who moan and complain about how their stylist ruined theirs? Really get a life. You are only on here to brag.
If I were you I would definitively cancel my trip to the US. Or maybe wear a sack over my head. 😳

I wasn’t moaning about my hair- quite the opposite.

Here’s my nieces response when she realised I wasn’t raising an eyebrow in the picture I sent her last night
Last night she said they looked ok - a bit extra but ok!!
And yes, I’m British of course I paid in full 😆

They are great !
Give it time it’s just a change
pencil thin brows look awful and are very dated. The right brows light your face and makE you
younger or fresher of you prefer that word .

Yes I could tell

Siddalee · 22/07/2023 21:45

The top image is my usual brows. The bottom last nights. I think it’s the one on the left of the photo that seems odd.
It seemed too thick and too flat. They’re def better tonight though.

Thanks for the advice - even if my husband did get his hopes up thinking I was going to do some baking when he saw me looking for the bicarbonate of soda

I did pencil for ages, then had them done as powder brows, which is like the tattoo thing, but much softer, if you can’t afford that you should definitely get them tinted and shaped

MysteryBelle · 22/07/2023 21:59

I don’t see anything wrong with your brows. Nice hair btw.

At first I thought you were going on a walking tour in the USA (where I am) and walking backwards 😂😂😂 I saw something in the news the other day about how walking backwards is beneficial (I would say it’s dangerous but hey) so that’s why it sprung to mind.

But no, no reason to hide your face! 😄

We’re off to do some beaches in California and then a week in Vegas. Ironically, we do loads of walking there. We usually average 14,000 steps a day there but have done over 20k in a day. Mind you it’s so bstto hot there at the moment, I can’t see us doing much outdoor walking

Eek I see - the arch has gone from the one on your left!

You’re doing very well to get in so many steps. Yes it will be very hot in NV (dry heat) and CA. Hopefully you’ll get sea breezes and cooling ocean waves at the beach. Have a great time!

Exactly. Surely you’d be aiming to keep an arch not flatten it out

She said that when I was lay down it was arched but when I stood up my brow fell. Way to make me feel even more old bloody aged!
