Impossible shorts

Please help me find shorts for my holiday (I know I’ve left it a bit late).
I’m looking for mid thigh length but loose and flowy around my big thighs but with a proper waist with a zipper and/or buttons.
Anything with a waist tends to be too tight on my thighs even if they look loose on the model.

Look for sailor style shorts, they tend to be high waisted and fitted at the waist but then loose on the thighs.

Don’t make the mistake I made for years of trying to cover your large thighs with extra long shorts. Shorter shorts (not bum cheek level but normal length, mid to upper thigh) actually look better, to my surprise.

Paperbag waist shorts might also work eg these superdry ones

these from nobodys child may also work or these but not sure if they have a proper waist?

And these

If you can compromise on the zipper and have an elasticated waist, I have these in a few different fabrics and love them. They are really comfy, travel in a suitcase well, and get lots of compliments: https://www.marksandspencer.com/printed-pleat-front-shorts/p/clp60592425?color=DARKBLUEMIX#intid=pid_pg1pip48g2r5c2|prodflag_plp_ts_QP_100

Thanks for the recommendations. I should have mentioned that I don’t want to pay more than £25 so some of those are out.
Sailor style sounds good though I don’t think I have seen any around. Agree about the length thing.
Paperbag style might work as I have finally realised that things look better tucked in even with a tummy. The proper waist seems to keep my tummy under control a bit but I do like the look and price of the M&S ones.

I don't recommend the m and s ones personally although they seem to be popular or at least go up a size. Even with weight loss they fit weird on me. One leg looks shorter than the other. I do have horrible fat thighs though but am working on it

These are great, elasticated at the back, so you can size up for your thighs. They also roll down, do can be 3 inches longer than in the picture. I got mine in store, but they have some sizes left on line, they also come in Navy - 100% cotton, great for £10!

These look good from Uniqlo

Matalan is my usual go to for shorts that cater for thighs, and I live in these from H&M, though they are elasticated waist

I've got these on my list for when/ if they go on sale

I've found in general mom shorts are the comfiest fit, though not as flattering, and I've learned to go up a size and wear a belt if I need- I'd rather they were flattering on my legs and wear a belt than nowt wear one and have them look small when I sit down.
