Returning bras

I bought a number of bras online from Selfridges - same one, different sizes. Quite expensive. I have often done this in the past with various retailers and had no problem returning bras. Now they are telling me I can't return them for hygiene reasons (even though they have no hygiene seals, and I haven't even opened the box one of them was sent it as I found out I couldn't return the others when it was already on its way). Their T&Cs do say you can't return underwear but I am not sure this is allowed by law - because they don't even allow you to return them for reasons of them being faulty and you're allowed to try on bras in store and online buyers have greater rights because they haven't seen the product. Anyone encounters this and got any advice?

I’m pretty sure under distance selling regs they can’t refuse you a refund. Like you say, you don’t see the product before you receive it?

It won’t help you with this problem, but Bravissimo allow returns

Thanks for the responses. Spoke to Citizens Advice and went back to Selfridges. Have now got them to agree I can return the unopened one. I am going to keep going on the other two. Next move - before reporting them to ombudsman might be to take them into the shop to see if they will accept the returns... They claim this is usual policy but it doesn't seem to be most other places - except for possibly John Lewis.

Would they have let you try them on in store? I can't see the difference, they'd have put the ones you didn't want back on the shop floor.

What? That's mad. I order bras from Bravissimo, Marks and Spencer, John Lewis and Amazon and never have an issue returning them.

Yes, like every other shop that sells bras!
