Which Max Mara cape

Can I please have opinions on which Teddy cape would be softest. One comprised of 88% Camel and 12% silk. Or one with 62% Alpaca, 26% Virgin wool and 12% silk. I’ve never bought anything this expensive so am nervous to get it right and there’s no chance of me making it to a physical store to try them on. Thank you for the help.

Teddy Cape 1

Teddy Cape 2

Are these the capes? I honestly couldn't say without seeing them in real life. I'm sure they will both be lovely as all Max Mara coats and capes are.

Could you order both to check?

Yes that’s them! Having read a little more, camel is apparently less hard wearing than Alpaca which makes the decision easier. I’d prefer a coat that is not extremely high maintenance. Thank you for putting the links up , I could manage to do it !

I think Teddy capes will date very quickly and it's a lot of money to spend on something that will date badly. Would you not consider going for something more classic in wool/cashmere?

I considered a more classic coat but I’m craving a snuggly throw on cape for car journeys and food shops 😅 It’s all about comfort for me as I’m quite lazy when it comes to fashion.

Max Mara has been doing its teddy coat for yonks so I wouldn't worry too much about it becoming "dated".

My concern would be that capes are hellishly impractical garments so would go for a teddy jacket or coat.

Impractical in terms of the cut ? Are they too flappy ? I hadn’t considered that.

Your arms aren't covered so they get cold.

I think if you were wearing them to drive the fabric would get in the way. With your hands on the wheel your arms going to be lifting the fabric off the cape up. That might be awkward.

Oh dear I hadn’t thought of that and it would annoy me while driving. Thanks for the insight

I have some Massimo Dutti camel and alpaca jumpers. Alpaca is softer and warmer than camel.

Sorry OP. I see that the only Teddy jacket is an equally impractical short sleeved one.

This is the least expensive Teddy coat. It's 62% alpaca, 26% virgin wool, 12% silk. I think it's lovely btw.

Thank you , it is beautiful! I will have to have a re think but you’re right regarding the impracticality of the cakes and jackets.

Cakes are never impractical !

NatashaDancing · 16/07/2023 21:31

Sorry OP, there are 2 jackets

The first one is the alpaca mix. The second is the camel.

You might prefer a jacket to a coat but to my mind there's not a great deal in it price wise but you get a lot more garment with the coat. Also Max Mara coats are just brilliant for giving an instant pick up no matter what you're wearing underneath.
