Which are they? What are their notes? How is the longevity and sillage? How often do you wear them? Anything at all about them. I'm in a nosy mood (no apologies for the pun ;-) )

I'm a musk fan so bear that in mind. My ultimate favourite is Le Labo Musc 25 (Los Angeles), this is a super clean laundry type scent but with much stronger sillage and depth than clean scents often have. The ingredients smell rich and expensive if that makes sense (and indeed it is very expensive). I wear it sporadically.

In second place my old signature scent Narciso Rodriguez for Her, ideally the EDT rather than the EDP. Another clean scent but with a powdery dry down that smells quite sexy. Lingers on clothes and on skin. I like a lot of the flankers from this range but none beat the original which is a modern classic as far as I'm concerned.

I have oodles of other perfumes that I wear and enjoy including Oribe Cote d'Azur, Commodity Perfumes Paper+, Laboratory Perfumes Gorse, Estée Lauder Sensuous, Diptyque Fleur de Peau, Floral Street Arizona Bloom.

For something completely different I enjoy L'Occitane Arlesienne (sadly discontinued - lovely rose and floral scent), Vilhelm Parfumerie Basilico Fellini (very green), Floral Street Chypre Sublime (heavy oriental), Le Labo Poivre 23 London (powdery pepper).

I have a huge perfume collection as I’ve been interested in perfume and learning about it for many years. Long enough now to know my own tastes, which are quite simple, as it turns out!

My favourite perfume is Love by Chloe, which was discontinued some years ago. It’s a lovely blend of purple flowers with dominant Iris, heliotrope and lilac notes and a dry base of musk and a rice note. It’s gorgeous <drool> and I have a couple of back-up bottles left and a fairly good dupe from Perfume Parlour which I’ll eventually have to move on to.

I tend to wear pretty ‘basic’ clean scents day-to-day, the kind that perfume snobs hate (I’m part of various perfume online communities!)… but they make me happy.

MFK Feminin Pluriel
Hermes Jour de Hermes
MMM Bubble Bath / Sailing Day
Chanel Chance Eau Vive
J-Lo Glow
Terranova China Rain
Swiss Arabian Musk Tahara
CLEAN Shower Fresh / Rain / Fresh Laundry
Nivea EDT

If I feel like something different, I reach for a good white floral.

Amouage Love Tuberose
Michael Kors
Estée Lauder Tuberose Gardenia
…and many of the same ilk

I don’t love anything heavy, spicy, sweet or laden with oud or amber anymore, although I still have a lot of these fragrances in my collection for sentimental reasons.

Oh I've not tried that le Labo but I do love some of the other le Labo scents - rose 31, te noir 29 and baie 19. I'm running low so going to try the Musc. I also wear a Maison margiela that John Galliano gave to my boyfriend when he was recording a podcast with him, and I have portrait of a lady by Frederic malle bite that's too heavy for summer. I was in diptique earlier today trying on perfumes but couldn't find one I like, so this thread is timely, thanks!

ferretface · 14/07/2023 14:20

The le labo Musc is one of their city exclusives so annoyingly only available in September unless you're lucky enough to be able to get it in Los Angeles- after you have a full bottle they will refill it anytime, though. They make testers of the city exclusive scents available in Aug-September. I also like Gaiac 10 (Tokyo) for a light woody scent.

I think le labo is one of those houses with quite a strong DNA running through it - if you like one of them you're more likely to like their others.

I forgot to mention MMM By the Fireplace which is a perfume I really like but only wear in autumn/winter. Oh and Maison Crivelli Lys Solaberg (another smoky scent) and Santal Volcanique (a bit more versatile but still smoky)

I’m a simpleton and alternate between two fragrances:

JM Woodsage & Seasalt
Chloe EDP

I bought SJP’s ‘Lovely’ after recommendations on S&B but it didn’t quite hit the mark and is now used as a room spray.

Oh and I have an old bottle of Clinique Happy which I take on holiday because it cost next to nothing in Duty Free a few years ago and I don’t mind if I lose it.

I don’t really rate Jo Malone but I love Wood Sage & Seasalt. Very easy to wear and refreshing. I m’ll have to dig it out - thanks for reminding me!

Floofydawg · 14/07/2023 15:58

My new favourite which I discovered recently O de Lancome. Citrussy, fresh and light - perfect for the summer. It's also cheap as chips.

morelippy · 14/07/2023 16:04

Recent O de Lancôme convert here too. Love it.

Middlefadiddle · 14/07/2023 16:09

Currently, vetiver & cardamom Jasper Conran (bargain in tkmaxx that I would not have considered otherwise). Spicey but light for summer. Also Marlin Lavender Ruth Mastenbroek. Only if you are a lavender fan, though.

Summer2424 · 14/07/2023 16:12

Hi @whatausername i love Burberry's Weekend, i was given it as a gift in the 90's and have purchased it on and off through out the years. It stays on for ages and smells beautiful 💛

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 14/07/2023 16:19

My current favourite is Gucci Gorgeous Jasmine as Jasmine is one of my favourite scents.

Others I like are:

Jean Paul Gaultier Classique
Jean Paul Gaultier La Belle
Jo Malone vanilla anise,
Jo Malone orange blossom
Jo Malone peony and blush suede

SometimesNine · 14/07/2023 16:22

Currently I wear Josephine Eau De Parfum by Rance almost every day. It was a gift chosen together by my DH and younger DS when they were in Paris last year. It is Floral Woody Musk. Top notes - orris, black currant, galbanum, violet leaf, cloves and white peach; middle notes are jasmine, hiacynth and ylang-ylang; base notes are amber, sandalwood, bourbon vanilla and white musk. It sounds rather like an oversweet concoction, but it isn't, the musk is not overwhelming. I'd say it's more floral than woody. It lasts half a day at least.

Ladyofthelake53 · 14/07/2023 16:31

Fendi Theorrma was my fave until they discontinued it.

Halfeti by Penhaligons
Cabochard by Gres
Portrait of a Lady

I like obvious spicy oriental smells

Ladyofthelake53 · 14/07/2023 16:32

I do like Alien and JPG classique also

Bananaspliff · 14/07/2023 16:38

I like light, floral scents. Currently I have Lancôme Miracle, Chloe Love Story, and Coach Floral on the go, plus I’ve got a little bottle of Clinique Peony Picnic that lives in my work bag.

Lentilweaver · 14/07/2023 16:47

Clinique Happy. No idea about notes; I just like the way it smells!

Mary46 · 14/07/2023 17:03

Darklane · 14/07/2023 17:12

Mine tend to be the old ones. I keep trying to find a modern one to love but not managed it yet. So mine are

Arpege
Chanel No5, especially the EDT
Le Dix
Diorella
Ecusson by Jean D’Albret, which I’m eking out the last few drops of as it was discontinued ages ago & can’t find any.

If anyone can recommend a perfume that smells exactly like fresh freesia flowers I’d be forever grateful as I’ve been searching for years.

PaperwhiteTheGhost · 14/07/2023 17:12

My favourite ever perfume that I've worn since I was 17 is Moschino Cheap and Chic. I've never smelled anything like it!

My cheap work perfumes are

Davidoff Cool Water
Lacoste Touch or Pink (I know these two are super old school but they're cheap and I tend to reapply at work as it's a stinky job)
Next White Amber

Going out perfumes

Body Shop Indian Night Jasmine
Ferragamo Signiora Libre
Coco Mademoiselle
J'adore

CurlewKate · 14/07/2023 17:16

I've worn Estée Lauder White Linen for the past million years. It's classified as a floral, but it's not sweet-it has citrus and woody undertones. I love it-and it's incredibly long lasting.

Deathraystare · 20/07/2023 18:30

@PinkSparklyPussyCat ·

I love the Gucci Jasmine too! Only smelt it on a ship but decided not to buy it there as if I get it from Boots I get points! Still saving for it!

Love Jasmin
Honeysuckle
Ylang Ylang
Citrus
Light musk
Rose but only with other stuff

Gridhopper · 21/07/2023 08:14

@LooseInTheCity just ordered the pp Love Chloe version on the back of your description - sounds heavenly! Shame no original but at least your post only cost me £3!
