EYEBROWS ARE TERRIBLE

I pluck my eyebrows and sometimes get threading/plucking/trim for £3-£5.

Would like eyebrows to look better as gaps/hair brittle and hairs grow long/shape not perfect.

Don't like them too dark as don't want to look like I have two slugs on forehead😂

I'm not good at this perfect eyebrow look everyone seems to have.

Any tips for better brows that isn't going to cost a fortune?

What's "a fortune"? £3-£5 is cheap, I would say... I mean, I'd expect a rubbish job for that.

I would suggest an initial investment with a decent person - which might be £25-£30 - for a tint & shape. That will give you a starting point & you can keep the shape as much as possible with plucking.

During lockdown I then maintained my brows with Refectocil tint, Trim the length with eyebrow scissors (cheap from Amazon) - spoolie to brush them up, and trim anything above the top, and pluck to keep the shape. Then make up - I have a few but tend to go for a tinted gel.

Loads of Youtube vids, the trimming is probably the most challenging bit...

If you're only spending £3 on getting them done I suspect that may be why they look terrible

I get mine dyed and shaped every month for about £15. It is worth every penny!

LBOCS2 · 14/07/2023 19:07

Threading for £3-5 is perfectly normal for areas with lots of that sort of shop, the price does get driven down. But it's also not a full HD brow experience!

Personally, I have too much rather than not enough in the way of eyebrow, so I tint mine and then go and get them threaded to tidy them up.

If they were very sparse, I'd consider using a growth serum or similar, or microblading if that didn't work. Tinting can make a big difference (and is really easy and cheap do at home).

I know 3-5 pounds is very cheap. I wasnt saying that was a fortune.

What does micro blading involve during procedure and upkeep?

To get the perfect brow look involves removing most of the outer third and using pencil/powder to draw it on at a more flattering angle..!!!

So I don't think it's the plucking or whatever that's the issue, if you're not using powder or pencil then ofc they'll look less than ideal.

Campervangirl · 14/07/2023 19:30

I've just had mine microbladed, £250 but that includes a top up in 6 weeks, I had no tails left due to over plucking, I'm pretty impressed tbh.
It certainly wasn't painless but it was bearable

determinedtomakethiswork · 14/07/2023 20:58

@Campervangirl do you have before and after photos?

TimeForBedSaidZebadee · 14/07/2023 22:24

I agree worth pp that microblading. Mine cost £175 and I'm very happy with the result.

Ooh no I haven't, I didn't even think about photos

Jinglybangly · 14/07/2023 22:31

£175 for straight eyebrows??? I can't even list how many things I could do with that money.

NutellaNut · 15/07/2023 08:48

Just posted this in another thread so I’m repeating it here….. I got a colourless mascara by Revolution in a beauty advent calendar. Cheap as chips! Would never have occurred to me to buy one in a million years but I love it for grooming my eyebrows. Absolute game changer! It grooms the hairs in the direction you want them in and holds them there.

OrrAppleCheeks · 15/07/2023 09:15

I’ve got really patchy eyebrows which they disappear into nothing when they’re threaded/plucked, so I dye them with Just for Men beard dye. Really cheap, easy and the pack lasts forever.

NutellaNut · 15/07/2023 09:54

Just used my clear mascara and it’s actually by Collection not Revolution, so even cheaper!

Hotmess1 · 15/07/2023 11:40

look up soap brows videos on YouTube - all you need is a clean mascara wand/eyebrow brush and a bar of clear soap, beats any eyebrow gel I’ve tried and coats pennies. Then a cheap eyebrow pencil to fill in any gaps x

QueueEtwo · 15/07/2023 12:16

HD brows Brow sculpt - I had this done last week, basically a perm for your eyebrows, straightens them & gives you a really good shape, includes a tint!
