Or do you just have them natural?

I get builder gel every 3 or 4 weeks

Lemieux7 · 12/07/2023 20:56

Yes but I don't have monthly facials any more and I do my own pedicures.

dovesong · 12/07/2023 20:56

I get powder dip nails every three weeks. I used to bite them horribly and it's made a world of difference to my self esteem.

blahblahblah1654 · 12/07/2023 21:01

I get my fingernails done monthly. SNS powder dip. Much harder wearing than gel polish. During summer I get gel polish on my toes. Toenails grow slower so I can get a couple of months out of those but they start to look a state towards the end.

MammaTo · 12/07/2023 21:01

BIAB done every 4 weeks

sopeas · 12/07/2023 21:10

Yes! I love getting my nails done ❤️ Every 2-3 weeks- usually 2 as my nails grow really quick now and I’m fussy when I start to see growth.

I used to get gel but a couple of months ago I moved to dip powder and my nails have grown so much and where the dip powder is stronger than gel I can keep them longer though admittedly they have grown too long now and next time I’ll be getting them cut a little shorter! I can’t believe they are my own nails tbh. I just wouldn’t feel like me without lovely nails, I really don’t like unpolished nails on myself but each to their own, I suppose it suits some people ☺️ I had a gel kit with the uv lamp gifted to me one Christmas a few years back which I love and kept me sane in the lockdowns doing my own little manicures and I still do my own toes all year round but will get them done in the salon if we are off on holidays just because!

LooseInTheCity · 12/07/2023 21:12

I used to get gel nails but I stopped in the pandemic and taught myself to do a proper manicure, which I now do once a week. Saved a fortune! I still indulge in summer pedicures, though (not weekly!).

mrshenny · 12/07/2023 21:17

I used to get them done every 3 weeks pre-kids. I don't anymore, my first baby wouldn't sleep and I didn't have the time to go and then I just haven't been back. When I stop regularly wiping bums maybe I'll go again but personally I really like having natural nails so maybe not.

I had gel nails done 6 weeks ago, and was told that they would last for 6 weeks. My nails have grown quite a lot since then so the nail polish is halfway down my nails and looks awful. I am having them done tomorrow, but I think that at the rate my nails grow three weeks is the maximum that they will look good. I have also had to cut them because I couldn't type with them at that length.

I only had them done for a wedding, but I think I might just go for a French manicure this time. I shan't be having them done regularly though.

Yeah no one would keep them 6 weeks. It would look terrible. 3.5 maybe

justanothermanicmonday1 · 12/07/2023 21:19

Yes.

I get something called BIAB. It's builder in a bottle and strengthens and grows your own nails. I usually just get a French manicure x

mrsjackrussell · 12/07/2023 21:19

I used to have just colour gel for a few years. Now I'm loving the natural look. I don't like long nails so just keep them shortish

lastminutewednesday · 12/07/2023 21:19

Every 2-3 weeks (my nails grow fast). It's £25. I give them about 3 months off a year though, usually January to March.

I pay £28 for BIAB

shakeitoffsis · 12/07/2023 21:23

I get BIAB every 4-5 weeks. I go longer than I should because I can't afford it on Mat leave but I always go for nude with a pattern so it's not too obvious when they grow out. I'm a nurse so can't have them done usually so just making the most of it whilst I'm off.

User10486743 · 12/07/2023 21:25

No, because I'm allergic to nail polish

weebarra · 12/07/2023 21:25

It's something I've started doing relatively recently. I get BIAB every 3 weeks at a local salon. It costs me £34.
I'm very loathe to give it up, the salon has a real family feel and I get so many compliments on my nails now.

MissDollyMix · 12/07/2023 21:33

I get BIAB with a gel polish on top every 3-4 weeks. Costs me £35. I’ve nearly always had my nails done. Started with acrylic extensions many years ago, then moved onto shellac and gels and now BIAB which is amazing. I love having my nails done. They get a lot of compliments. I just feel finished.

Can anyone who has the lamp at home explain how they do removals properly? I've tried everything but still left with residue on my nails, puts me off doing them myself.

justanothermanicmonday1 · 12/07/2023 21:46

@treatsforfeathers I think it varies on where you go. I'm in Scotland and it starts at £25-£30. I go every 5 weeks and I get my nails done and brow wax and tint and all in its £43 xx

anythinginapinch · 12/07/2023 21:50

No. It's a stupid marketing "exploit women's feelings of insecurity" bollocks.

FiloPasty · 12/07/2023 21:51

What’s bias? Can I do at home?
super interested

Blanketenvy · 12/07/2023 21:51

I do my own toes. Just normal varnish but looks ok I think. Keep my fingernails really short and either buff or use clear varnish. Find faffing around with them is quite therapeutic in front of the tv.

Minniemouse85 · 12/07/2023 21:53

Builder gel (the gel bottle) every 3-4 weeks. Not broke or chipped a nail for over 2 years.
