DIY gel nails safely alert

I have got a home gel nail machine and was using it regularly until recently. I was put off with the info that came through in the news re future allergic reactions etc and thought I would pause using it until I could see some more clear info about it.

Has anyone got any links to any reliable and clear information about it? Basically all I could see was go to a salon! But it's ok expensive to do that regularly. Thanks 🙂

I’ll see if I can find the articles I’ve read. I’ve stopped using it even in a good salon: risk of allergic reactions to future replacement joints or dental implants isn’t one I’m prepared to take. The main way of avoiding problems seems to be to use the drying/setting machine made by same manufacturer as the gel- don’t mix and match.

There’s an online article in the independent that references the experts who gave the warning. It came from the British Association of Dermatologists too.

Ok I'll have a look for that one. I dont want to do myself any harm but also miss it. It's a mylee machine I've got and I couldn't see any reference to it on their website!

Make sure you don't get ANY gel on your skin around your fingernails.

Wipe off immediately from your skin with a cotton bud before they get cured for each layeer

Thank you. I guess I was hoping it would be super clear and say it's potentially harmful if you do it weekly but 3-4 times a year not too bad!

Sadly no, I think I on e your immune system is 'primed' it can go off any time. So best just not to at all.

I'm giving that printed gels link a go. Will report back!

I'm glad I've stuck to regular nail polish, I've seen people on YouTube removing gel nail polish and it always scares me. 🙀 I do like some of the colours of that Green Flash brand though. And no acetone, yay!
