Grease is the way I am feeling

Any ideas for help with my greasy mush? Have always had combination skin and while I am finally less spotty (at fucking fifty) I am still so oily. Use tret and it was initially amazing at drying me out but that was a short lived success. I use oil free sun cream - usually a water gel one as even the usual non greasy facial ones leave me worse off. Use a bit of double wear as foundation but all day I have to blot - I gleam all the time and heat makes it worse! Any ideas?

Thanks - That’s interesting (although I wouid struggle with some of those changes more than the high shine!).

Niacinamide is a great active for reducing oiliness.

I am the same OP, went to a derm and she said while I have oily skin I also have dehydrated skin, which is a lack of water so my skin was compensating by producing excess oil. So I upped my water intake and added some hydrating products, hyaluronic acid serum, niacinamide and salicylic acid to decrease oil. Helped a lot but also just have to come to terms with my skin type. At least oily skins are slower to age and show wrinkles than dry skin types! Also blotting papers and mattifying primers help with makeup staying put.

Acnecide works for me. My skin produces Castrol gtx grease though.

You only need a tiny bit.

I have tried upping the hydration - will try again and don’t know why I haven’t used the acnecide - have that for my boy! Have a salicylic cleanser and a serum with nicacinimide. Hmm the wrinkles could be worse I suppose
