Has anyone else only just discovered these? I ordered one from Red magazine last year and loved using a random selection of products that I'd never have bought myself (or had even heard of, in most instances). I just bought another one and OMG it's such fun! It's like Christmas morning for grown-ups Grin

I like the idea but I’d rather spend the money on a product or products that I know I will use.

LadyLolaRuben · 09/07/2023 17:26

Sounds great. Last night I signed up to the Perfume Society seasonal box. I was looking at make up boxes at the same time. Can you tell us whats in your make up box?

Plainandsimple · 09/07/2023 17:26

Oh my dear heart, you're going to loooove Christmas beauty advent calendar season! 😁

NorthWestThree · 09/07/2023 17:27

I get a Glossy box once a month and I love love love it!!

JeandeServiette · 09/07/2023 17:27

I ended up with banks of Perspex drawers filled with "useful travel sizes" so I had to stop it. I do indulge in beauty bags like the M&S one this summer though.

From the header- I thought it was a box to keep your make-up in. 😃

I assume its a lucky dip of products from their range? I'd worry I'd get a vile coloured lipstick/shadow/blush that I'd never use- making it a waste of money.

Unicorn2022 · 09/07/2023 17:40

I got the OK magazine beauty box in April and it was fantastic. I keep meaning to try another one

Arewehumanorarewecupboards · 09/07/2023 17:42

I get the liberty one which is amazing. It’s £20 a month, quarterly boxes and your £20 a month is banked to spend in Liberty on absolutely anything that you want.
It’s my treat to me.

Shock

I'm so glad I clicked this thread just for that nugget.

I'm there.

JeandeServiette · 09/07/2023 17:50

Oh dear look how easily I crumble.

I LOVE Liberty and I agree, OP, it's just like Christmas for grown ups.

Bananaman123 · 09/07/2023 18:03

I’ve been getting for years and reached my saturation point now but I do love the ok box and advent season.

there are some good deals on next and you can see exactly what your getting. Look fantastic and Sephora are good too

It's not a waste of money, because you spend £60 or £70 on about £300-worth of stuff. And it's not all make-up - it's a mixture of creams, serums, make-up, vitamins and perfumes. Some are full-size and others are sample-size. And some won't work for you - I got a REN eye cream last time that totally blocked my pores and gave me a huge spot! But I also got some fab Jurlique cream that was amazing and stopped my skin going all dry and horrible last winter. So you won't love everything, but you'll probably find a couple of things that you'd never have discovered otherwise.

What do you do with the left overs? Flog them on ebay?

grownup2 · 09/07/2023 18:14

I have quite the weakness for them too. My tip to avoid random trial sized products is to sign up to Latest in Beauty subscription. Check their blog, Instagram or mailings to see what's coming up for the month in weekly drops. When the things you want come up, you can select 6 products from the new drop or any previous products - and lately there have been lots of full sizes. You also get 15% off and free postage on their one off collections. LiB are not talked about much but I think they are good value.

TheChosenTwo · 09/07/2023 18:19

I found them a waste overall. Lots of tiny things in a huge amount of packaging - I had loads of them at one point when I discovered skincare and makeup at the grand age of 35 but 3 years later i now know what I like and don’t like and just buy those instead, in proper full sizes in the colours that match me.
Glossybox were the absolute worst for inclusivity and would never give them a penny more of my money for that alone. It was rare that any of the makeup suited me from any box but most of the others did at least seem to try.
it was fun for a while though!
I don’t even get advent calendars anymore for the same reason, loads of it goes unused or I give it all away.

Back21970 · 09/07/2023 23:58

They can be a bit hit and miss sometimes.

I became slightly addicted a couple of years back around the Black Friday November deals but have now became a bit more selective.

I now subscribe to Liberty for £20 a month and get the quarterly freebie box and recently bought the OK one which was brilliant.

I gift or sell on EBay items I won’t use, get very little for them but saves them lying around the house.

I think the boxes would be a great idea if you maybe had teenage daughters so they could try new things and split the cost but for one person getting them too regularly probably overkill IMO.

DD, DN or the bag for the refuge.

Good idea. I always wondered what to do with "left overs."

CorneliaStreet · 10/07/2023 13:31

I get the Cohorted box each month. It’s great, it contains brands like Kate Somerville and Murad and you get a good mix of products. There’s usually perfume and chocolate samples in there too.

DP has also just bought me the Red beauty box for my birthday next month. I’m a sucker for beauty boxes and advent calendars!

RyanGoslingsTan · 20/08/2023 19:12

I love beauty boxes. I get Latest in Beauty, Ok! And Look Fantastic. Sometimes buy the £5 Roccaboxs in the sale too

I had glossybox for a while and had some good products but it kept my DDiL in mascara and eyeliner as I never use either. I've given up with it now as they started repeating things very quickly.

From what I've seen that's the main problem, you can buy 2 different boxes and you'll see some identical products
