Suddenly greasy face with tiny whiteheads

Hello!
I need help! I haven’t changed anything routine wise ( a part from the fact it’s been very very hot where I am) but for the last couple of days I’ve had a very oily blotchy face with crops of tiny tiny whiteheads.
Im off on holiday today - does anyone have any magic cures or tips for me? I really don’t want to spend holiday looking like a frying pan.

Thankyou !

Is it your sunscreen causing it? I think you need a facial / non-comedogenic one.

Thanks @LuckOfTheDrawer i haven’t changed sunscreen - but have been putting it on more often - so that may be it! It’s is a face one though.

I definitely get break outs with certain sunscreens - I like the Body shop SPF50 facial one at the moment.

I use this one which is meant for face … I’ll pop into the pharmacy at the airport and get a different one to see if it makes a change!

It's probably not rinsing the Spf properly, how do you cleanse?

brisedusoir · 09/07/2023 11:23

@bryceQ i wash my face in the evening with LRP effaclar mousse… is that not enough ?

You might need to double cleanse to remove the Spf. I would try that for a few days and see if it helps. I use a balm first as that breaks everything down if you massage it in for 1 minute. Then rinse.

Im generally pretty low key when it comes to skincare. I don’t really do makeup apart from mascara, I wash my face with effaclar by la roche posay, I use an anti redness face cream by Avene and sunscreen - that’s it!

Thanks @bryceQ - I’ll try and find one at the airport, would a balm and then a hot clean flannel so it do you think ?

That's how I always cleanse and I don't wear makeup only Spf. I think oil based is better for removing Spf rather than a water based Cleanser.

I notice on my little boy if I don't wash his face properly during summer he can get tiny breakouts as he wears Spf every day.

Is there any chance you might be pregnant? I had this in the first weeks.

I use acnecide and Paula’s choice BHA exfoliant (the dark grey bottle) for my acne prone skin and both are rapid at clearing breakouts. Acnecide you can get at Boots. Paula’s choice online only.

That is how my face breaks out with sun exposure. I use tropics SFP 50 and keep shaded as much as possible. I'm using CeraVe cleanser and moisturiser daily and wash with a gentle exfoliant every few days and a basic face wash from aldi on the other days.

I've never been prone to skin issues but since having covid there's definitely a a change in what my skin tolerates. It was a beautician who recommended CeraVe to my friend with similar post covid skin.

I have similar issues and ended up going to see a dermatologist privately. Have you tried Quinaderm face wash? I ended up going on a low dose tablet used for cystitis (Trimethoprim) for a couple of years (they take time to work) as the infection was so deep in my skin, nothing topical was going to work and it needed to work from the inside out hence the tablets. Doesn't exfoliate as it will cause your skin to produce more oils and make it worse. Dermatologist said exfoliating would make the problem worse, within a week or 2 of stopping exfoliating and using the quinaderm, my face started to feel cleaner and look better.

@furMum19 on account of having had a hysterectomy I very much doubt it ;-) !
Thanks @FlyingUnicornWings - I’m not is the UK and am going to settle for an oil based cleanser like @bryceQ suggests and be really careful with cleaning my sunscreen off !

thanks all
