Jo Malone for wedding fragrances?

We have a consultation this afternoon but my eyes are on stalks at the prices. Obviously we will pay if they are worth it but know as soon as we step foot in the door I’ll feel pretty bad if we leave empty handed given the consultation involves free bubbles etc.

Are they nice fragrances or overrated?

Over rated and don't last at all in my experience, I now buy the oil dupes from perfume parlour which last all day.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 09/07/2023 08:12

**They are beautiful fragrances just vastly over priced for how long they last

Unbridezilla · 09/07/2023 08:14

Don't feel pressured into buying something because of bubbles! That's all part of the pressure sales tactics and is all costed in (ie the 30% who do buy pay for the 70% who don't).

noglow · 09/07/2023 08:16

You're best off just going in and sniffing them to see which one you like if any.

BettyBe · 09/07/2023 08:22

English Pear and Fresia is a lovely one and I wore that when I got married. It did cost a fortune though! The only way to make it last (which it did) was by buying lots of the products that go with the cologne such as the body lotion.

Alvinne · 09/07/2023 08:26

Don't feel pressured into buying them at the end of the consultation. Say you want to go away and see how they last. I have a couple of JM and they don't last that well to be honest. Probably be because they're cologne rather than EDP.

If you do really like one see if there is a McArthur Glen type place near you as the Cosmetics Company now usually has Jo Malone cheaper.

Overpriced and underwhelming.

LadyLolaRuben · 09/07/2023 08:28

I second pearl and fresia

inappropriateraspberry · 09/07/2023 08:29

What's a wedding fragrance?

Alvinne · 09/07/2023 08:33

The perfume you choose to wear on your wedding day.

What's a wedding fragrance?

I didn’t know this was a thing either

TerrierOrTerror · 09/07/2023 08:57

I find their scents last longer when sprayed on clothes than skin.

My everyday scent is the Barley JM one and I do love it. Any others fade quite quickly.

NewIdeasToday · 09/07/2023 09:03

I find that the smell just doesn’t last.

Clarice99 · 09/07/2023 09:08

Overpriced and mediocre. JM has limited 'staying power'. Even the cologne intense range doesn't perform that well.

I've had several JM fragrances over the years and I haven't made a repeat purchase.

pinkfondu · 09/07/2023 10:17

For me over rated plus tgey like to layer different ones so you be forking out for more than one

BillyNoM8s · 09/07/2023 10:54

The Rose Oud and Rose Vanilla are both nice. They're definitely overrated though.

A consultation sounds like a super awkward waste of time though, I'd just go to a store?

memyselfi · 09/07/2023 14:07

This sounds like a really hard sell , I'd be so uncomfortable.
You shouldn't really make your purchase there and then anyway , you want to see how the scent develops over a few hours.
I really recommend this

www.fragrancesamplesuk.com/

An inexpensive way to test drive new perfume .

The perfume you choose to wear on your wedding day.

Why would people choose a completely different fragrance? Surely you’d want to smell like ‘you’ to your partner?

You don't need to choose something completely different, but it is lovely to have something new as another way to remember the day, every time you wear the perfume in future.

Most people like a type of fragrance,so are unlikely to smell totally unrecognisable anyway

Is that not just your perfume? Why do you need a consultation?
