Wedding guest dress

Event(s) : End of September French Riviera church wedding followed by cocktail party and dinner.

About me : Going to be 34 in 2 months. Between size 16-18. I have a big tummy. Lost confidence since have my DS 2 years ago. I’ve been wearing baggy clothes since then.

Dress : About midi length. Definitely shoulders. Don’t want backless. Budget £120 max! I don’t want too much attention so nothing very sparkly or too bright.

I have a few heels options in Dark navy blue and subtle golden coloured are my favourites.

This is going to be the first wedding I’ll attend with my DH since our wedding 5 years ago. This is the first church wedding I’ll be attending. Happy to know more about it.

Is it possible/ practical to change the outfit for the cocktail party in the evening? Do guests normally do that if the reception is after a few hours of the wedding. All locations (hotel/ church/ dinner venue) are within a mile/2km radius.

Hire something. There are some really excellent dress hire places around right now. £120 simply isn’t enough for a really special dress for a size 18. Fabric is expensive; design is expensive … Example here, filtered by size.

You might find something from a pre-worn source, but it’s time consuming and a bit hit and miss.

(But it would be wise to clarify outfit expectations with the wedding party before doing anything!)
