Where do you buy something a bit more interesting?

I hate online shopping so that's out.

I want the standard blouse, sweater etc, but not basic. Maybe a textured fabric, an interesting detail etc, but nothing too far out.
I'm completely lost....I've bought most of my clothes in the bloody supermarket since having kids 🙄.

I've just had my colours done and want to go and spend some money on myself.

TK Maxx

Gytgyt · 06/07/2023 16:46

I don't go in often but Urban outfitters. Pull and bear have some nice things too although I've actually never ordered myself!

Cheztwix · 06/07/2023 16:48

& Other Stories

KirstenBlest · 06/07/2023 16:48

ebay & charity shops. I don't think that's the reply you want though.

Going to nice shops: I like going to a fairly well-heeled town that's a bit out of my patch, and going to shops where everything looks just my kind of thing.
Boutiques are often good for this.

MandyMotherOfBrian · 06/07/2023 16:50

Wolf and Badger - you need a lot of time to browse though cos there's so many brands. Postage and Returns are easy though they may take time if the brand you choose ships from, say, Australia...

PrincessofWellies · 06/07/2023 16:52

Cos

KirstenBlest · 06/07/2023 16:52

I like Urban Outfitters! I probably look like I'm looking for something for a teenage granddaughter
Other shops: agnes b, anthropolgie, maje, sezanne, isabel marant, comptoir de cotonniers, jigsaw, cos, arket, margaret howell.
Online: plumo, toast, wolf & badger

KirstenBlest · 06/07/2023 16:53

I don't necessarily like all those shops but they are ones I go in when shopping with a clothes mad friend

KirstenBlest · 06/07/2023 16:54

In a boutique: Sahara, Masai.

MandyMotherOfBrian · 06/07/2023 16:55

Plumo is also good, and I've just bought some nice things from Aligne.

Mercurial123 · 06/07/2023 16:55

The Knotty Ones are good for knitwear and Sessun for dresses and tops, though some of their clothing has a % of polyester. APC surplus is APC overstock from previous seasons and has some bargains.

KirstenBlest · 06/07/2023 17:02

If you go on the Plumo site, they sell brands as well as their own - Yacco Maricard, Ganni, Two Danes, Swedish Hasbeens etc.

&Daughter and Brora for jumpers

John Lewis Anyday looks ok, AND/OR is good if my one purchase is anything to go by. Kin is a bit like Cos.

idliketogetdownnow · 06/07/2023 17:04

APC, Whistles, Reiss, Sezane, Jigsaw

These are my go-to for quality and cut.

KirstenBlest · 06/07/2023 17:04

Don't dismiss the supermarkets. I get nice comments about things from there. You just need to be a bit choosy. You can get nice things in Matalan and Peacocks too but I don't think you get that 'oooh I like this shop' feeling when you go in.

KirstenBlest · 06/07/2023 17:06

Where @idliketogetdownnow goes but I'll add Hobbs and Phase 8, but they're a bit more formal.

Good old M&S, but probably one in an upmarket area.

SurpriseSparDay · 06/07/2023 17:32

I hate online shopping so that's out.

There’s your problem. If you decline to shop online you won’t have access to about 99% of the good stuff. And you’ll never get hold of an outstandingly beautiful Sofie D’Hoore skirt, £700 a couple of years ago, pre-worn, perfect, and reduced to £70 on Vestiaire … Your loss! Grin

KirstenBlest · 06/07/2023 17:34

There's online shopping and online shopping.
Some sites are messy and hard work, or airbrushed to the point of silliness.
Others are inspiring.

Niftythrifter · 06/07/2023 18:17

Cos ( interesting shapes and textures) might be worth a look especially since there is a sale on there at the moment. Depending on your budget the Putney might be worth a look. High street again but &Other Stories ( sale on at the moment) is worth a look too. I have bought the same top ( one at a discount and one in the sale) from there, just in different colours that I am planning on making regular pieces in my summer wardrobe.

Niftythrifter · 06/07/2023 18:17

Putney -Outnet

Mortgageportgage · 06/07/2023 21:39

Thanks for all the fab ideas, I'll get looking.

Boutiques, All saints, 360 cashmere jumpers, Belstaff.
Also remember that jewelry, belts, hats, footwear can add interest.
