Fabric softener- what do you use?

Hello I thought this would be a good place to ask as it's for fashion and beauty and stuff. I need to use fabric softner (sensory issues) but I have some really nice perfume and I want to smell of it not a mix of it and blue skies/gold flowers. Even the stuff I use for my kid smells of babies to me! Is there a fabric softener that has a more subtle smell?!

We use Ecover 0% fragrance and colouring as I hate synthetic fragrance.

Ah might be worth a look.

I wish I could not use it but I need to use something. Especially if I dry inside. My clothes don't feel right without it and some of them feel like they physically hurt... its a sensory thing.

I use Fairy diluted 50/50, just a slight hint of smell.

kingfisher168 · 06/07/2023 22:31

It does not 😊

White vinegar and soda crystals/bicarb soda are just the best cleaning products for most household tasks, no nasties in them, all natural.

I use a tiny amount of Fairy fabric conditioner Just enough to soften but not strongly scent
Overpowering scents make me feel nauseous

DorisKarlov · 07/07/2023 01:28

None. I haven't used fabric softener in years. Waste of money and affects the absorption of towels.

itsapalaver · 07/07/2023 07:16

Lots of fabric softener hate on here...

I like lenor outdoorable (blue) but it's expensive so only get when it's on offer. Otherwise tesco own or comfort blue.

CosmosQueen · 07/07/2023 07:54

I use just a drop of Comfort Blue, not enough to be overwhelming but sufficient to keep clothes after.

WildFlowerBees · 07/07/2023 08:00

I just bought some samples off a new company called Tallow & Ash, name is misleading though as it's vegan, no chemicals no dye. So far I'm pleased, the scents aren't strong, I have found that once dried the scent is barely noticeable. I'll keep using it because I like the ethos but personally I like a stronger smelling fabric conditioner.

We use this or Surcare fab con which is also fragrance free as I have a fragrance allergy. Both are very good.

@WildFlowerBees was just coming on to say about this company but my experience is different I’ve found the smell to stay even after line drying which doesn’t happen with the usual fabric conditioners. I am very impressed and will keep it on

Which one do you find stronger @AlaskaThunderfuckHiiiiiiiii

AlaskaThunderfuckHiiiiiiiii · 07/07/2023 17:19

@WildFlowerBees So far have tried aurora, bahama vibes and duvet day all have kept their scent after drying the strongest of those 3 probably aurora

princessbear80 · 07/07/2023 17:26

Another vinegar user! Absolutely no smell. I’m in a hard water area and clothes come out really stiff without it.

Blossomtoes · 07/07/2023 17:41

I gave up fabric conditioner a long time ago. They all smell awful to me.

Excitedannie · 07/07/2023 18:01

Gosh I'm so surprised! I love a fabric softener and I love the fresh smells and how they make the house smell!!!! I like lenor outdoorables but I've also got Morrisons own and that's lovely.

Don't you like your clothes smelling lovely?!

Blossomtoes · 07/07/2023 18:03

I like my clothes smelling of my perfume which really does smell lovely, unlike any fabric conditioner I’ve ever encountered.

SirChenjins · 07/07/2023 18:03

Blue or yellow Lenor, or the lavender Comfort when I can get it.

UglyModernWindows · 07/07/2023 18:07

What is lovely to you is sickly cloying to me. I like a wiff of clean washing up powder when I press my nose into the fabric, don’t want to a scent cloud to follow me.

I have a half of bottle of Waitrose’s discontinued fabric conditioner left, will move back to vinegar when it’s all gone. The bottle has lasted me a long time as I only use about a tea spoon in each wash, just enough to take the edge off the water hardness.

WhatADrabCarpet · 07/07/2023 19:18

Watered down Ecover.
I don't use it for towels though, I use white vinegar instead.

Ooh might give it a go.

I like my clothes to not smell or to smell very softly. I need them to be soft. I like my fancy perfume to smell. I find that softners have got smellier? I can tell when someone uses that blue stuff it smells really strong in the office.

Yes this is the level of smell I'd be happy with. I have ecover no smell on the way and I'm going to try vinegar. Thank you all!
