My 12 year old GHDs have sadly died this morning and I'm off on holiday on Saturday. Can anyone recommend any mid priced straightners to replace please. Will need to be able to get Argos or Prime in time for my departure! My hair is shoulder length and quite fine but wavy frizzy in humidity. Thank you !

Remington shine therapy are very good, and also have a pair of Babyliss titanium ones which worked just as well as GHD's.

I've had loads of straighteners and honestly, I think mid range ones are a false economy. I've got cloud 9's now and the way they make my hair look is unlike any others I've had, they're incredible.

Fluffyowl00 · 06/07/2023 10:37

Yeah. I’d just get some more GHDs. Mid range ones are fine if your hair is already straight

Thank you everyone

I just bought need GHDs yesterday because mine broke after 10 years. Currently all GHD products are 20% off on Amazon

Summerhillsquare · 06/07/2023 18:16

So what's the actual difference with 'high range ' ones then? Asking as my ancient ones must surely give up the ghost soon.

RaininSummer · 06/07/2023 18:38

I don't understand the shine therapy ones though they sound great.... The argan oil infused plates? Do you have to refill something as it isn't at all clear?

Zhougzhoug · 06/07/2023 19:14

What is mid range? There are posher ones than GHDs out there. But I love my Cloud 9s. Better than GHD.

iamnottoofatiamjusttooshort · 06/07/2023 19:18

I think Cloud 9's are mid range
I like mine and they didn't break the bank

Wildlyboring · 07/07/2023 07:53

My mum has Remington ones, she's had them years and I've used them when I've been at hers they're really good.

Wildlyboring · 07/07/2023 07:53

I've got Cloud 9s and they're great but more expensive.

Flamingmentalcats · 07/07/2023 17:15

I love my cloud 9 straighteners, my hair has never looked so good. I bought my daughter Diva ones for Christmas and she likes them, think they were about £60 ish.

getmeavodka · 07/07/2023 20:20

I got the Remington ones and they did the job. I will see how they go and maybe put cloud nines on my Xmas list!

She straighteners on Amazon are great. I replaced my ghds with them and never went back. £60

WonderWoman1009 · 20/05/2024 08:38

If you can afford new GHDs go for it, if not and want to save your money for holiday - Facebook marketplace is good for 2nd hand ghds to see you through. But check they work before you leave as I've been stung with a dud pair off there and the "they worked when you bought them" excuse 🙃 my fault for not checking lol. My longest lasting ghds were second hand!

WonderWoman1009 · 20/05/2024 08:39

I've just seen this post is from July 2023 no idea why mumsnet fb is sharing it now! 😂
