I know I am not on trend with this but I have a couple of sporting events which will involve lots of walking.. what are the best comfy sneaker types that will look okay with a dress?

I got teen Dd some vans low tops in their sale the other week, she lives in them, it's her third pair in three years.

I have the adidas bravada in white

moneymatr · 07/07/2023 23:24

I swear by superga’s. I have osteoarthritis in my feet and find I can walk all day in them. Certain styles have arch support too. They are canvas style, not too pricey and you can get loads that are either plain or pretty with embroidered flowers and such. I have 4 pairs now and they are all comfortable from the very first wear. Wore them all day walking round alton towers a few weeks ago on the first wear and they were super comfy!

Karhu Mesaris!

Vejas are lovely. The canvas ones are cheaper than the leather ones. Also check out vinted lots of people sell brand new ones much cheaper than shops, I always look on there for new trainers.

Air and Grace…. They aren’t the cheapest…. But they really last, they look fantastic with dresses, and most importantly… they are designed with comfort in mind… can walk for miles and miles and miles in them…. They are like putting slippers on - straight from the box… have had several pairs over the last few years, have never had a problem and have ever had to wear them in…. I like the style of Vera trainers - but my goodness…. SO uncomfortable… (the Campo style anyway… they might have some better styles now…)

I have these in pale blue. £30 from MandMDirect. Love them!

I am a Converse lady though. I've got about 10 pairs.

I always, always struggle with shoes giving me rubbed heels / toes and blisters. Recently bought a pair of leather Stan Smiths and they are hands down the comfiest shoes I've ever worn. I walk a lot on flat terrain, as have a toddler and don't drive. Can fully recommend.

Siezethefish · 08/07/2023 09:33

what do you all do to keep the laces white and the shoes looking pristine? how do you clean them?

Cif and soak the laces or buy new ones.

Adidas Gazelles and Superga. Adidas Samba have suddenly become super trendy with youth( so avoid or embrace 🤔). But these shows all work well with dresses
I find Adidas the most comfortable, classic and good value.
I cannot stand Vejas by the way. So overpriced and stiff looking!

FelixDoublyDelicious · 08/07/2023 16:57

Stan Smith or Gazelle are my go-to

PurplePansy05 · 08/07/2023 20:00

Rocket Dog Jazzin are fab, extremely comfy.

Blowfish Malibu canvas sneakers are my othef favourite.

Avoid Superdry trainers, I found them really uncomfortable.

PurplePansy05 · 08/07/2023 20:01

Stan Smith and leather Converse also very comfy and universal wear in my experience!

See this is the problem with asking for comfy shoes - it depends on your feet! I wanted a pair of Air and Grace for ages. Finally got a pair and they squash my toes so much! They claim to be a “neat” fit. Well neat = narrow! If I take the insole out they are a bit better (the insole is slippy and has a wedge so my feet slip forward and the toe squash gets worse) but I still can’t wear them for long. I am between sizes so sized up but perhaps should have sized up again even though I have never needed to do that with any other brand.

Veja on the other hand… I have had campo, esplar and venturi. All very comfortable and I can wear them all day no problem.

I have wide feet.

Both these brands are expensive though so not what OP is looking for. Rocket Dog or Superga (both often available on mandm direct at bargain prices) would be my budget options. But only if OP has wide feet …
