Purses - where to buy?

My purse is falling apart, having served me well for around 10 years. Budget up to £50, maybe slightly more for something amazing. I don't want boring black or brown, am not high fashion; nor do I like anything with branding (logos etc). Ideally I'd like to buy from an independent shop but I haven't a clue where to start.

Any ideas?

I got a rather fabulous one from Oliver Bonas last month. It’s leather and bright green, makes me happy every time I use it. It also has a nifty bit that you can remove as a mini purse for nights out etc

I was about to say Oliver Bonas, I’ve got a great card holder from there. It feels one step up from Accessorize in quality/ style/ price, but should still be in your budget.

T K Maxx has loads

My lovely very old red leather one which I love is from M&S

You must have local boutiques

Ours always sell gorgeous items just like this

Not that I'm aware of! I've tried TK Maxx (where I got my current one from) but they didn't have anything I liked. Online options would be great. I'll have a look at Oliver Bonas now.

What sort of purse do you want? Continental (so long wallet that can fit £ notes unfolded), or smaller with section for notes and section or coins, or a card holder with small zip for bit of money?

for colourful and decent quality, you could pick up a radley purse in their sale for £50 mark. I’ve had their purses in the past and they seemed to last.

Sunnysunbun · 01/07/2023 20:05

Vinted.

dubyalass · 01/07/2023 20:05

@LimeCheesecake good question - I very rarely have cash these days but I think I do still want to be able to carry notes and coins just in case. So continental I think.

Ok just looked, there’s loads on the radley website sale that are under budget. Oliver Bonas purses seem very pretty but I’be had a couple of accessories from them (not purses to be fair) that have broken / gone tatty quickly so you’d need to go into store and have a grab at them.

John Lewis own brand are also very good quality for bags, I’ve not looked at their purses though.

LimeCheesecake · 01/07/2023 20:54

(Radley call their big purses matinee, not sure if that’s bigger than continental)

Yetisrus · 01/07/2023 21:50

I got mine from Ted Baker, plain black leather matinée purse, inside is pink, zips up all the way round. It's actually quite smart and classic (unlike a lot of their purses). I've had it for 6 years now and it's still looking good.
