I don't own any designer handbag and now that I'm levelling up my wardrobe the style of clothes I'm buying don't match the bags I have.

My budget is limited and I probably will have to finance but I'm looking for a small to medium bag that will go well with all looks (a part from back tie haha) and whatever colour outfit I'm wearing.

I'd rather avoid black / brown and I'm thinking grey, is it a good option?
Also no logos all over the place - something discreet but cute, classic and feminine

Links and photos greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Prada re edition 2005 in leather comes in beige and many other colours ? Can be work crossbody it as a shoulder bag via the chain.

Lower budget I’d say a nice Coach bag. I love their tabby bag that is newish.
They do logo print bags but I also hate them - don’t be put off if that’s all you come across when you quickly Google!

Fairfax & Favor do some nice bags. They also have the Klarna payment option.

I just bought this in black but I am aware it's a bit plain but there are different colours!Black
Just realised I over paid £10 at Fenwick yesterday! I also have the navy one but I bought another generic yellow cross body and a lime green Kate Spade gosh too many bags !!!

It's difficult to suggest things without knowing your budget and your style. Some suggestions for different budgets but all 'designer' imo:

<£500 Loads of options but I would go for Coach, Tabby or Bandit Shoulder bag (worth a look at Polene bags too)

<£1500 You'll find some options from premier designers but they will tend to be smaller or canvas, nylon etc. You would get something decent from Mulberry though - Mulberry Lily in grey is on sale at the moment for £765 - https://www.mulberry.com/gb/shop/women/bags/shoulder-bags/top-handle-lily-charcoal-heavy-grain?istCompanyId=3a5764c8-2715-43fc-9450-7ad7cab20c43&istFeedId=0b38272c-6d65-4d30-9a3b-3a2dfb5ce19a&istItemId=pirtwalqm&istBid=t&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIyILrqYzuwIVk-vtCh0sMQVTEAQYBCABEgI1vfDD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

£1500+ If you have the budget for the luxury design houses then something from Loewe or Celine. I would go for the Loewe Puzzle or Puzzle Hobo, Celine Romy, Classique 16 or Nano Luggage.

Please share what you buy!

If I could afford it, I’d buy a Loewe puzzle.

Sorry, but you should not be “levelling up” your clothes or handbag on finance!

Alexander! I am dumb

I agree. Sorry, I know it's not what you're asking but if your budget is limited, spend accordingly. I know the designer stuff is better quality and lasts forever but if you haven't got the money upfront, don't go into debt for this. The irony of value for money is that you need money for it.

Agree.

Zara has some exceptional quality leather bags in unique designs at great prices. They look a lot more expensive than they are. I'd start there.

daysleepers · 01/07/2023 21:28

You can get lovely high street bags.. Zara would be a good start. Lovely muted tones.

For a mid range designer - I'd go for Coach .

PlumPeony · 02/07/2023 10:13

I didn't see the comment on finance - I agree with above posters, please don't buy a handbag on finance! If there is an outlet near you, you can get good deals there. I've been to Bicester village and there is Kate Spade and Coach for example, while they are not my favourite brands, the deals are good.

Or have a look notonthehighstreet, they have some leather bags on a reasonable price if even lower price. But please, don't feel the pressure to buy a designer bag that you can't afford!
