I haven't bought a bag in years so would love some suggestions!

Bum bags worn across the body are "in" where I am plus "that" Uniqlo bag (I confess, I have one!)

Same here in the US, except that we call them "fanny packs." Grin It's not a look I like for me; I have a simple Coach tote for work, just big enough to hold my 13 in laptop. On sale Coach can be a good bargain. For a smaller choice, I have a Coach Cassie 19.

Damn you for making me look at the Osprey sale 😂

I have this Ted Baker one in Black and also in Pink. I love it as its so comfy and not too heavy. There's two zip parts, one has my phone and the other I have my keys and my cards in a little compartment inside. I paid full price for my black one but my pink one I got in sale at £59. They both still look as new over 2 years later.

The Osprey navy one (like crocodile skin?) is super gorgeous!!

If you have a Boundary Mills near you they are worth a visit. They stock a lot of branded bags at reduced prices. I have seen a lot of Osprey bags there and got my Radley bag from there (I can't claim to be fashionable bag-wise Grin).

I have never seen anyone with a pillow bag.

I've ordered this! It's a bit small but so cute!

@Aintshesweet I love those Fable handbags and I bought the Into The Woods Mini. I checked if PU is the same as vegan leather, as they seem to be using it interchangeably in the descriptions. I even found a 15% off voucher code online, after trawling through dozens of useless ones, as it turns out Fable is also a brand of pet food 😁I love the jewellery as well, so thank you for introducing me to this!

Cross body bags are often mentioned as being a Mumsnet 'thing' at the moment. I don't know if those are 'in' generally but you always see a few around and about.

I do hate the “just get what you like” which doesn’t answer the question about what’s in fashion, there’s clearly fashions in bags. But as most woman don’t change bags so frequently /need to carry particular types of bags for their lives regardless of what’s in fashion, it does tend to move slower.

Cool people seem to be carrying 90s bags, of the shoulder type baguette bag, worn in armpit bags, so presume that is the next popular bag style. Probably less baguette like and more just shoulder bag. (Something that wouldn’t look right carried on the crook of the arm or just in your hand)

Baguette / armpit bags are one of my (I know completely irrational) fashion hates. When they were "in" many years ago I couldn't stand them and just could not understand why people liked them. It's odd as I don't normally exact that strongly to anything fashion related. Well maybe to cold-should tops too. Anyway as you were!

@theoddoneasalways - I know, I always fear I’d get them stinky on a sweaty day…. I reckon the “toned down for mass market and the need for woman to fit all their crap for the day in it” version will be the return of something akin to hobo bags, possibly more structured.

I’ve got 3 cross body bags of differing levels of expensive I use most days (well, other than the 3 days a week I have to take a rucksack!), so not in the market for a new expensive bag, but if I was buying a posh bag now I think I’d go shoulder bag, not cross body or hand/crook of arm bag for fashion longevity. (Unless I needed a particular style for practical reasons )

Puffy pillow bags and kipling it seems

Finally found this thread again! I have been keeping my eye on the beautiful purple Osprey bag and it's now under £100 🤩

What kind of bag is "in" at the moment?
blahblahblah1654 · 25/08/2023 15:03

@WimbyAce that's great! I ended buying a mini dr martens backpack in the end. I also bought one of the Uniqlo ones for when I'm in central London and don't feel comfortable wearing a backpack.

This thread popped up again. I can update that i returned my Fable mini as it was barely bigger than a purse. It couldn’t fit a pair of glasses and a pack of tissues. It was otherwise gorgeous but totally impractical for me.
