What kind of bag is "in" at the moment?

I hope their partners are giving them their keys, tissues, etc to put in them.

But I don't understand how anyone can suggest anything when the OP has't said what she wants the bag for. How big does it need to be? Smart or casual? Does she want to carry it or wear it so hands free?

It depends what your "in" is.

Lots of gorpcore vintage bum bags and small rucksacks are very in where I live it seems.

Osprey are excellent for work bags, and well within budget. I'm just about to replace one that has withstood my constant abuse since 2017. I like that they are large and strong enough to handle all my work crap, but also look like a normal bag (as opposed to a briefcase etc).

@letshaveanicecuppatea those Vendula bags are so cheerful. I have 3 in my basket but I’m giving myself half a day to ‘cool off’. Do you know other vegan brands like this (ie at less than Stella McCartney prices)?

In answer to the OP, I’ve seen a lot of those squishy, a bit shapeless bags. The elephant scrotum couch equivalent for bags. I think they’ll date quickly. Also banana bags (?), like a sausage dog under your armpit.

I've no idea if in or not but I like Kurt Geiger, Carvella and Alexander McQueen handbags. I saw a lot of metallics, studs, padded and colours to suit everyone when I was looking a month ago.

@MissLucyEyelesbarrow do you find the large work Osprey bags large enough to carry a laptop in? I noticed they have 2 sections so concerned it means there isn't enough space. I'm considering the Madden leather shoulder work bag! Just the laptop, no charger or mouse or case etc. Thanks!

My current one is - I carry my laptop in it all the time. Osprey have stopped making it though. I'm also contemplating the Madden.

Pillow style large tote is definitely “in”.

@Italianna - my laptop and I nipped into Osprey at lunchtime, in the interests of research. I have got a small laptop (13 inch) and it does fit in the Malden, but it's a bit of a squeeze. The opening is slightly narrower than the rest of the bag, so you have to put the laptop in vertically, then rotate it to sit horizontally. I think I am going to get a Rita Hobo instead. My laptop fits in comfortably.

I like woven leather bags. Dragon Diffusion for pricey ones, but plenty of other shops are doing similar for within your budget.

I have the tote bag in red. It's incredible and is one of my most used bag, it's smart enough for work but also works with more casual outfits.

The best bit is that they're (obviously) water proof
