Funeral outfit

I need something to wear to a funeral that I can use going forward. And I don’t suit black on top. Size 16, sweaty perimenopausal woman.
Also need something for my feet as I’ve only got work shoes and dog walking shoes.

I am assuming you are looking for something relatively formal but reusable in other circumstances?

Do you prefer a dress or separates in this heat?

I only wear dresses on holiday, so I doubt one would get much wear. So separates.

I would consider something like this blouse with black wide leg trousers. Do you suit any other dark colours next to your face ? Navy, grey, dark brown or green, purple , maroon ? Any of these are fine for a funeral these days, as long as it’s reasonable smart ( not a tee shirt ) or revealing.

why are your work shoes not suitable ?

Because I’m a nurse, and they’re functional, not pretty !

I went to my nan’s funeral on Monday, plenty of the men were wearing navy, and lots of people were wearing florals or colours other than black. It was the same with another funeral I attended last year. I think the ‘all black’ trend is waning. With the hot/ humid weather at the moment I’d say the more comfortable the better too. As another PP mentioned, as long as you aren’t scruffy most things are perfectly fine these days.
