Sweaty face

I’m really struggling, along with many others in this heat, menopausal hot flushes added to the mix make my makeup just slide off and I have a weekend of events coming up where I feel I need to wear some.

I’ve even considered spraying my face with antiperspirant but don’t want to cause other issues with my sensitive skin.

is there a magic solution to my problem that I don’t know about?

I swear by Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray. I've used it for years & wouldn't use any other.

JarOfRocks · 25/06/2023 09:25

I'm exactly the same, so following for a solution! I also can't even wear suncream on my face as it seems to make me sweat even more.

Some people on similar threads have recommended using the solutions made for underarm sweating, applying it on your face e.g driclor. But, like you i also have very sensitive skin so think that would irritate it. I haven't tried them yet, but someone else mentioned 'secure wipes for facial sweating', if you Google then a few options come up.

Therewere5inthebed · 25/06/2023 09:54

@pazwaz70 i already use All Nighter but it doesn’t work for me in this heat unfortunately.

@JarOfRocks i looked at this after a Google search but was worried about reacting, I don’t know anyone that has used it.

I keep seeing adverts all over the place for My Carpe anti perspirants. They have a facial primer one but it’s quite expensive. Would love to know if anyone has tried it and what they thought.

I use this in the summer and it helps www.benefitcosmetics.com/en-gb/product/the-porefessional-matte-rescue-gel?product=POREFFM30-FULL&sku=FM30

I suffer with facial sweating so bought Carpe with high hopes. It's rubbish and doesn't do a single thing to stop the facial sweating. That's £28 down the drain.

Wash face.

Apply moisturiser/suncream. Leave to 'set' for 5 minutes.

Then apply Benefit Pore Primer with a concealer brush. Again, 'set'.

Then spray Urban Decay ON your face, and start applying your concealer/foundation instantly. Then, top off with some loose powder. Spray Mac setting spray, leave to dry, and then one final spritz of Ubran Decay.

Hope it works.

Honestly?

an old fashioned pure cotton handkerchief is what you need to dab at your skin when it begins to sweat.

don’t add any more products to your face and try to stay in the shade as much as you can

AlfietheSchnauzer · 26/06/2023 17:13

I have EXTREME Hyperhidrosis on my face & scalp so I totally relate. I know exactly what you're going through. Sitting in the car with the air con on, much longer than needed. Being asked if you're ok at the packing bench in ALDI as you resemble a soaking wet beetroot. Driving round with windows down in January. Yep. That's my life. I haven't worn my hair down or any make up in YEARS

AlfietheSchnauzer · 26/06/2023 17:13

I am prescribed Propantheline Bromide from the doctors which helps and I use PerspiGuard wipes from Amazon

These are rubbish, they don't work. Regularly discussed on the Hyperhidrosis FB group. Thousands of people have tried and found not a jot of difference

bellac11 · 26/06/2023 17:16

I dont even bother with day cream on hot days, it just sweats off my face, I have to wipe it with tissues all day.

Ironically the only time I wear SPF is in cold weather, most of the summer I cant wear any creams on my face.

Nonsense! Facial sweating is repetitive and whilst I always have kitchen roll to hand, the second I wipe my face it's back & again & again & so on. If that was my only remedy I would never be able to do anything, I'd be wiping from the moment I wake up to the moment I go to sleep!

Summerhillsquare · 26/06/2023 17:23

Large brimmed hat for the sun and an occasional dusting of Pixi by Petra face powder with a large brush.

AngelasAirpods · 26/06/2023 17:37

Sorry to hear that Alfie, have you tried an old fashioned cotton hankie instead of kitchen roll though? It has worked for me though I appreciate we’re all different.

What difference would it make what material you're wiping with?

I have used both, still sweat all day long and have to wipe all day long.

I don’t know Bella, it maybe because the cotton absorbs better, it certainly has worked wonders for me.

Bananaman123 · 26/06/2023 20:38

I hate summer for this reason. If I need to wear makeup and be outside I’ll go for minimal, light texture. For a matte moisturiser the origins willow herb is good, cosrx aloe spf, NArs tinted moisturiser, mascara and no sebum setting power. It won’t stop the sweat but feel like it helps to stay less shiny.

i keep tissues or a makeup pad to dab, a fan either manual or battery operated, they do good ones in flying tiger. I also dress as lightly as possible to stay cool.

MiracleMoist · 26/06/2023 20:41

Get prescribed oxybutinin tablets and use sweatstop spray antiperspirant from sweathelp.co.uk

K1ran · 26/06/2023 20:55

I use odaban antiperspirant. It can he used on your face, but you will need to test it about 5 days beforehand so as to not react to it. Avaliable from amazon.

Catherine1986 · 29/06/2023 13:03

I have been given these aswell. I take 3x daily can be upto 2 tablets each time. How do you take yours as I’m still sweating quite a lot x

Q1w2e3 · 30/06/2023 19:37

Thanks those who have just saved me £28!

Namechangedagain2 · 30/06/2023 19:49
