Non wired bra / bralette

Hello

34d, early 50’s so needing a little ahem….support..!!..
im looking at non wired bras for the first time and am bamboozled by the choices out there. I can’t work out what the difference between a bra and a bralette is either..
I’ve seen the Lemonade Dolls website - they look quite fun, but ideally would like something made from bamboo.

can you recommend any tried and tested brands?

I'm a big fan of this
https://www.marksandspencer.com/flexifit-non-wired-full-cup-bra-a-e

I bought one in store after trying on and then found 2 more BNWT in eBay for less than half the price.

(Similar age and size to you OP)

Festivalmitch · 23/06/2023 14:12

Oh great, thank you @thedevilinablackdress . I’ll have a look now.

Not bamboo tho. Just spotted you wanted that.

LBB2020 · 23/06/2023 14:58

Not bamboo but I’ve recently bought the Sloggi zero feel non wired bralette and it’s amazing! Going to order in every colour! (I’m a 32 DD and pretty saggy after breastfeeding!)

Cantonet · 23/06/2023 15:03

I wear the Sloggi Zero Feel push up bralette at a similar size. It's very comfortable but a little sweaty in hot weather. I also have some Thought cotton bralettes & Seasalt cotton/bamboo mix ones too for warmer weather. I'm very tempted to buy Nudea bralettes. Anyone tried them?

Those Thought ones look nice (and breathable!)-are they padded?

Cantonet · 23/06/2023 16:41

No the Thought ones are not, but the cotton is quite thick.

crispinglovershighkick · 23/06/2023 18:39

I bought these: www.marksandspencer.com/flexifit-non-wired-bralette/p/clp60529420

I'm 55 and a 32F (lost a lot of volume with menopause so I don't look busty at all). I find deep v necks flattering and most bralettes are cut too high so I took a chance on this one because of the plunge cut. I had very low expectations but I really like the way they look - just enough support, no monoboob - and they're super comfy.

crispinglovershighkick · 23/06/2023 18:41

Argh sorry, not bamboo. Tbh I had to get rid of the cotton bralettes I tried because the texture was wrong, they didn't cling or stretch enough to keep everything in place. I'd bend over and everything would just fall out 😬

Festivalmitch · 23/06/2023 18:47

Thanks for all your replies.

I’ve seen the sloggi ones and wondered what they were like - well known brand etc.

I’ve not heard of Thought so will check hem
out.

I know in my op I asked for bamboo but if there are decent breathable alternatives then I’m very open to all the suggestions.

thanks so much

@Cantonet
the Nudea ones look very pretty

I haven’t found the Sloggi ones sweaty so far and have been wearing them during the hot weather we’ve been having recently. They really are zero feel as well, so comfortable and leave no marks whilst giving decent support

Purpleavocado · 23/06/2023 19:07

Boody do bras! They are bamboo and the pants last forever

electriclight · 23/06/2023 19:10

Bravissimo do several. I can't remember which one I went for but it's very pretty and the most comfortable bra I've ever owned.

LadyBird1973 · 23/06/2023 19:25

I love the Sloggi ones. I take the pads out but they still keep a decent shape and you don't get uni boob or spillage.

Tartopommes · 23/06/2023 21:15

I'm the same size as you and only wear these from Uniqlo now:
https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/3d-hold-wireless-bra-460102COL31FBR500000.html

Not a natural fabric but I've never found them uncomfortable. The major downside is that you'd need to try them on in-store as Uniqlo now have a ridiculous policy of not accepting returns for bras purchased online.

I've bought some nice things from Bamboo Clothing before, although not bras. But they have these if you're keen on bamboo:

Thanks very much for your replies and links.
I’ll post again if / when I’ve found the perfect fit 😊
