It's always the hair!!

If you are badly or well dressed, whether your skin is great or problematic, whether you wear expensive or cheap clothes, whether you are slim or overweight..........

The hair is what seals it.
I really do think that.
If the hair isn't working the rest goes to hell.
I am like this. I have decent clothes, am slim, can afford decent stuff, and have an ok sense of style, but my hair lets me down into infinity!

It is extremely frizzy by nature, no matter how healthy or what product - and i have spent some money! And by frizzy i mean the ends dry within 10 seconds and fluff up like wore wool.
It grows sloooowly and usually snaps off at chin length for no reason i have ever been able to fathom. It is just weird hair, and can let an entire look go to hell in a heartbeat.

I see hair that looks decent and often dont see anything else. People seem to be obsessed with bodyweight or luxury goods but the hair overpowers it all imho.

I so wish that mine was different. I am thankful that i have it, that I am not suffering an illness that might alter it, but try as i might, no matter what i spend, it always makes me look sad.

Sympathise. Agree it’s the hair.

When I had decent hair I could go out dressed down, barely any make up and felt good. Now, not a chance as my hair lets me down, thin and frizzy!

Are your iron levels at optimum?

What sort of things have you tried?

LordSalem · 21/06/2023 00:59

Yep. Mind fucks me over the second I walk out the door. It's very long and wavy but extremely light weight so every tiny gust of wind has it flapping everywhere. I fucking hate the wind. Leave the house looking polished and perfect, arrive at any given destination looking like I've been dragged through a hedge backwards. Hair spray etc does nothing! 🤬

LordSalem · 21/06/2023 01:00

Also does a Monica in any slight hint of humidity!

Niftythrifter · 21/06/2023 05:52

Agree. I can be feeling like I am looking good and feeling great and then get sight of my hair and bam, confidence and self esteem popped like a balloon!

DitaVonSneeze · 21/06/2023 05:57

Mine’s thin and fine. I have so little my friend said I didn’t have hair, only the essence of hair 😂 Whenever I’ve tried to grow it, it looks lank and unwashed as soon as I step outside and instantly ruins the way I look.

Fortunately I’ve found a short style that really works for me and I finally get compliments on my hair but it took over three decades of looking unkept to find this style.

TrianglePlayer · 21/06/2023 05:59

Yes!!

7Worfs · 21/06/2023 05:59

Pre-babies Kerastase Discipline range used to smooth my hair very nicely, but now it’s not enough. I sympathise.

ToadyPoady · 21/06/2023 06:17

My hair is similar - wavy and frizzy, with a tendency to just fluff up and do it’s own thing about 5 minutes after I’ve spent ages drying and styling it.
Have you tried a keratin smoothing treatment? It’s not cheap, about £110 I think, but it makes my hair behave - it dries smooth so is quicker to style. It also makes it resistant to humidity and lasts about 3-4 months.

PlainJaneSuperbrainthe2nd · 21/06/2023 06:21

Agreed! This damp, humid drizzly country is not the friend of our hair either - like you I can leave the house looking fine but the damp destroys it all within seconds
