Do any of you wear a 3xs? Where on Earth do you buy vest tops??

I desperately need some vest tops that will fit & am sick of scrolling the internet hunting for something that will fit without showing the world my bra, as my current 2xs ones do. I'm trying to put back on the weight I've lost due to illness but it's taking longer than I thought it would & I've got all is one decent outfit that suits the weather we've been having & I've literally worn it everywhere I've been the past couple of weeks 😢

Any suggestions of where to look would be very much appreciated!

I have looked at girls ones - I don't want cropped, don't want ones with pictures, and don't want to look like I'm wearing a keep me warm in winter vest.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Have you looked on ASOS? They go down to a size 4

lucysmam · 18/06/2023 12:43

Thanks @CMOTDibbler I think this one I have on may be a size 4 already - I'll get dd1 to check in a mo. If not, I'll check ASOS.

This one's a 4-6 so I will try a 4 from ASOS, thank you.

Does anyone have any other suggestions, in case they're still not right, please?

H&M and Monki seem a bit obvious, but their vest tops, tube tops etc fit my size 4-6 teen DDs.

TiredandLate · 18/06/2023 15:10

My dd orders 2xs from shein (not amazing quality but needs must) but also fits a primark size 4 so they may be a smaller 4. I don't think I've ever seen 3xs I'm afraid.

Zara kids might have less logo'd choices, probably still all cropped though.

Other option may be wearing an actual crop top under the vest top so it's like a double layer top? To avoid bra flashing.

lucysmam · 18/06/2023 17:11

Zara kids seem to be mostly cropped which is no good. I didn't actually think of H&M so will try there, and have never heard of Monki so will look them up too!

I'll look on Shein too.

I have ordered a couple of tube type tops too, they might not look too bad underneath. Maybe 🤷‍♀️

It's so frustrating. I thought the weight would go back on fairly quickly but am struggling to put on the last stone I lost 😢

Next kids go up to 16 so a age 12/13 might work

tealgate · 18/06/2023 17:54

Maybe look at Brandy Melville. Teen clothes size but more grown up design?

ValBiro · 18/06/2023 17:59

I wear a 2XS or size 4-6 and have found the kids vest tops in h&m to work well @lucysmam . I am currently wearing a longer line black ribbed vest with a slightly higher neckline, not too much bra showing!

FlounderingFruitcake · 18/06/2023 18:02

Uniqlo in a XXS since they generally run really small and that’s about equivalent to a 4?

porridgeisbae · 18/06/2023 18:04

I would just buy stretchy primark camis, those are quite small. Or their vests maybe. If you aim to put on weight then slightly loose might motivate you too, and will save you some money when (God willing) you do go up in sizes, rather than having to buy them all over again.

lucysmam · 18/06/2023 18:10

@porridgeisbae I'm currently wearing a 2xs from Primark & it's definitely not suitable for being seen in public! I do have a couple of the cami type ones but think I'll have the same problem with those - I will try them though.

H&M ones look like they might be a winner though, they're more similar in style to what I have on.

I'm just going to have a look at Brandy Melville and Next before I see about ordering some.

Boys' vests?

TiredandLate · 19/06/2023 14:03

Or a sports bra under the vest as they are usually quite tight. No good for a smarter outfit though obviously.

I do sympathise, my dd has really struggled with her weight and buying clothes is difficult.

OooohItsMee · 19/06/2023 15:04

Hollister
M&S kids/teen range
Next kids/teens
Mango Teen

Ps you can buy monki from h&m!

porridgeisbae · 20/06/2023 21:18

I know what you mean, it's a real shame. I had to actually cut my bras to shape, even then it soon showed again.

How about some sort of tank top with a high neck?

ouch44 · 20/06/2023 21:22

Sound similar size to my DD who takes Xxs or 4. We saw lots of great vests in Brandy Melville. Also Holiister and Superdry. They had a lot of plain and stripey ones.

porridgeisbae · 20/06/2023 21:30

@lucysmam I know it can be annoying to shop online, but there are also loads of Amazon stores and other websites which run to Asian sizes and are tiny.

OwlBasket · 20/06/2023 21:32

There are a few non-cropped vest tops in the Mango teen range at the moment IIRC. Might be worth a try

lucysmam · 20/06/2023 21:35

Ah thank you all, lots of other options to look at, I really appreciate the suggestions & will look with my cuppa in the morning.

@Caterpillargirl23 I hadn't considered boys' vests but you may well be onto something there - I clicked some without realising the other day but they were definitely cut higher from what I remember.

@lucysmam
Yes I've bought boys' age 12 vests for DS from John L, they are thick cotton and sit high up. Too small for me and sadly I don't think they go to age 13 in the black ones.
