Workout tops for long bodies

I'm not particularly tall (5'8") but my back is disproportionately long for my body.

I've just started a weights class, and I need long workout tops that won't flash my middle age wobbly midriff to everyone!

I'm currently rotating a couple of longline t shirts I got from BAM many years ago, but they don't do them anymore, and I'd rather have vests. I need tops to be at least 27" long, which is about 3" longer than usual.

Thanks x

I have a t-shirt from Asquith, made from bamboo. It is really soft and washes well. It is long. It is the Smooth You range and they do a sleeveless top in the range. They have a band around the bottom, which ensures no belly/bra showing when in downward dog! Highly recommend.

Now those are really nice!

I see the band around the bottom which will stop them flapping about, not sure if the tops are long enough to meet the top of my shorts. I shall message them and ask. Lovely looking kit though!

I wonder if it's worth looking at sleeveless tops made for cyclists? They are often made long to prevent them riding up. I have this which I love: https://www.wiggle.com/p/dhb-womens-merino-sleeveless-base-layer-m-150

I actually a cyclist and have this issue with cycling jerseys too!!

Primark had longline vest tops when I was in there this morning, I also find the Tesco workout tops to be a good length, I'm 5ft 8too and like tops to come to hip level to avoid belly flashing.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 19/06/2023 22:11

Sorry, posted too soon. Cycling tops are cut longer at the back, but generally shorter at the front, and also trbdvto be a bit thicker than gym tops, I guess for wind.

It's not even riding up I'm trying to avoid, it's my top actually meeting the top of my shorts at all!. Any overlap at all would be appreciated!

I have the same problem, and am eyeing up this top wellfitactive.com/collections/tops/products/loose-tank-vest as it looks so nice and long

Landsend sleeveless cotton tops are a good length and good quality.

Sweaty Betty Athlete vests are long (I’m also long in the torso, so I feel your frustration).

FourEyesGood · 20/06/2023 18:58

Actually, I’ve just measured one of my Athlete vests and it’s only 26” long, so it doesn’t meet your requirements. Sorry!

Tog24 active wear tops are very long. The vests more so than the tshirts. Bolam vests are really long and forgiving.

Top tip on Tog24! I had t thought of them, even though they are local.

I've actually ended up with a couple of Ron Hill vests. Interestingly, their running tight fit me really well too (they rise higher than my hips - long torsos are difficult to dress from both directions!).
