Best plus sized summer trousers

What are you all wearing this summer if in trousers? I’ve gained quite a bit of weight since having my son and I’m just feeling really uncomfortable finding clothes just now.

Definitely carrying more weight in my belly so I’m finding that any looser style trousers that fit round the waist swamp my legs 😔 I’m currently a size 22.

I need both smart and casual options. Hoping not to spend a great deal as I’m aiming to lose weight!

Can’t go wrong with linen wide leg drawstring trousers. Next ones are always good.

@almostoverthehill This is literally what I had just tried on before I posted! Haha. Had a pair delivered that I’d got brand new on Vinted and they look awful on me. They’re so wide on my thighs 😔

I was that kind of shape a few summers back. I'd always been a pear and then was injured, gained weight and suddenly I was all tummy.

I think you have to accentuate your thinnest bits. So if I didn't have a nipped in waist I just looked like a blob. I think the same applies to ankles. Have a comparatively narrow ankle but fabric that skims elsewhere. Trying on wide legs made me nearly cry.

I wore Hush harem pants a lot. I don't think they go up to your size but it might be worth looking for something a similar (they're not too haremy, IYKWIK.

M&S also have "smart" (office wear) joggers and similar this year. M&S are good for basics in larger sizes because they fit properly. No "fashion" extremes in the cut.

Just my experience. Hope it helps. Summer is a bugger for clothes when you're carrying weight.
