What is your beauty routine?

BettyBoopBetty · 13/06/2023 22:38

What do you do daily/weekly/monthly as part of your beauty routine? This can be anything from washing face with a good cleanser to hetting your hair and nails done. I am just curious to know :)
I go through stages really. Love beauty products but I am now in a phase where I can’t be arsed and need some motivation so hoping that hearing others’ routines will help me realise I should do more. For example, pre DD I always had impeccable nails and loved painting them and keeping them pretty. Now I almost never do it. I blame the lack of time but truth is I am just becoming lazy.

I’m a mum of three and work part time so don’t get a massive amount of time to myself however I always make sure I take off my make up using wipe and cleanser and then moisturise using a basic (supermarket rip off) anti aging night cream. I always wear at least a factor 30 day moisturiser. I don’t bother with my nails as they’re really brittle and break easily and get highlights once every 3 months to cover greys. I am starting to notice more wrinkles since entering the peri-menopause so may consider Botox in the future

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 13/06/2023 22:48

Wash my face with CeraVe cleanser and a washcloth.

Apply CeraVe moisturiser

Apply make up - Double wear,Maybelline mascara , AYU liner, Lippie which is usually a long wear one.

Pwrfume- Chanel Chance or Marc Jacobs Intense at the moment.

Wash shit every other day, blow dry and finish off with Revlon One step.

Always wear silver bangles, earrings and rings and a watch.

Always paint toe nails and usually do nails too but keep them very short as I garden.

VanCleefArpels · 13/06/2023 22:49

SNS manicure every 3 weeks
hair cut/ colour every 6 weeks
exfoliating face mask once a week (when I remember)
daily: morning wash, Niacinamide serum, Vit C serum, Cerave moisturiser and/or LRP spf
night time, double cleanse, eye makeup remover, hyaluronic acid serum, night cream with retinol

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 13/06/2023 22:49

** WASH HAIR not shit 🤣

BettyBoopBetty · 14/06/2023 08:47

Thanks ladies, I love reading what other do. Mine currently is:

  • take off make up every night with micellar water and then rinse all off with face foam
  • moisturize if I remember
  • Same in the morning except the micellar part and I always moisturize
  • minimal make up: mineral foundation, blush, mascara and, depending on where I have to go, I'll often wear lipstick
That's it. I want to go back to use vitamin C serum as it's one of the things that made the biggest difference on my skin in the past. And I'd also like to moisturise my body regularly as my legs get very flaky (can never be bothered to do it though) and always have nice nails (hand and feet). Will try and work on it :)

I cleanse every night with a rich cleansing oil.

Add Tret

Moistusier

Squalene oil

I spray my hair with curl wave stuff and wrap it on those hair pieces silky things so I have lovely waves.

I use shea butter all over my chest and cleavage and hands and feet....and then put some aromatherapy oil on.

I love to feel lovely before bed. 😂

Wash hair once a week, curly girl method, use serums and leave in conditions. Use cereve face wash and moisturiser and spf 50 in the morning, tretinoin all over face neck and chest in evening. Use la Roche posay cicaplast baume on non tret nights. Bite my nails until they bleed

Mum of three with a full time job.

Every morning I cleanse and moisturise and put on SPF even if I'm not wearing make up. Every evening I add a serum and retinol and a deep moisturiser. Brush teeth. Nail brush. That kind of thing. Face exfoliator once a week but use a flannel daily to get a little scrub going with cleanser.

Hand cream every day because I wash my hands a lot.

Coconut oil for everything. Oil pulling, hair mask twice a month, and removing make up before the cleanser.

Make up is usually simple. Fill in and brush up brows, mascara, cream blush, concealer and/or a highlighting skin tint and a tinted lip oil or balm. I add more brows, highlight, a lipstick and eyeliner when I'm going for a full face.

Dry brushing twice a week before a shower. Once a week an everything shower with exfoliation and shaving. Moisturise top to toe every shower or I feel like a lizard.

Fake tan in the summer on a Thursday night (just the one hour ones) to give some colour but I can't faff for hours.

Nails done with builder gel at the salon every 3 weeks. Occasionally at home but I'm not as good as the pros.

Brows get plucked once a month but they're generally pretty good.

Busy full time working single mum. I was a bit confused a few years ago about my skin routine so did some research. I now stick with the Medik 8 CSA routine as it keeps it simple, they have a great online chat function and they are a British brand.

Love threads like this, hopefully more people will post.

Morning:
Face:
wash with powder cleanser
vitamin C eye cream
face mist
hydrating serum / vitamin C serum (depends how willing I am to go downstairs to the fridge to get it 😂)
spf (very nourishing) OR bronzing drops+light moisturiser, then SPF
make up

Hair:
washed every other day, I use gentle shampoo and very rich mask (bleached hair)+hair oil before drying
Once a week purple shampoo (although I want to buy purple conditioner as I find shampoo too drying)

Evening:
take make up off with hot cloth cleanser
wash (same product as in the morning)
eye cream
face mist
serum (depends on my skin needs- can be prebiotic one or something with acid if my skin needs it)
cream or cream+oil
once a week face mask

Nails- can't be arsed really, might put one layer of conditioner. Shellac on feet as it helps me prevent ingrowing nails

Unfortunately I neglect the skin on my body. I'm not regular with brushing or scrubbing and moisturising. I use gentle shower gel and I promised myself to use almond oil on wet skin, started just yesterday.

Currently 34 weeks pregnant, I am curious how it's going to change once baby is here 😂

xogossipgirlxo · 16/06/2023 11:36

Oh, I do my hair at hairdresser once in 3 months. Blonde balayage and trim.

RaisedOnADietofBrokenBiscuitsOh · 17/06/2023 22:31

Hair cut and colour every 5-6 weeks. Washed every 3 days or so wavy girl method and refreshed every morning with wave spray.

AM cleanser, eye serum, face serum (usually a vitamin C one but I do vary), eye gel, hyaluronic acid serum, mist, moisturiser, SPF 45

PM double cleanse, Dermatica rosacea prescription, eye serum, eye gel, mist, moisturiser

Almost nothing ever done below my boobies. I used to get a two week manicure pre pregnancy but now it's just a very occasional Rimmel 60 second polish.

GiveYourHeadAWobble · 17/06/2023 23:11

I got lazy so I'm making more of an effort at the moment.

I now wear light makeup most days (nice bb cream, cream blush, mascara, brown eyeliner, tinted lip gloss).

I colour my hair myself with John Frieda Go Blonder products.

I also cut my hair myself following Youtube videos.

Wash hair every other day.

Use a home IPL machine for hair removal.

I also keep fingernails and toenails short and painted. I use Sally Hansen Instadri polish as I don't have time otherwise.

I also use a Urea foot cream to soften my feet as they're pretty crusty otherwise.

Then just a simple cleanse and moisturise routine.

Oh, and I use Crest Whitestrips (purchased overseas) for tooth whitening.

Perfume everyday.

It seems like a lot but it's been worth the effort for me. I let myself go and I'm trying again, and it's lifted my spirits.

BettyBoopBetty · 19/06/2023 11:36

@GiveYourHeadAWobble I feel I have done the same too and trying to get back on track. I lack motivation if nobody sees me (except, DH does, so that should be enough to motivate me too) and tend to make more of an effort on office days whereas when I am at home I let myself go a bit :(

I try to balance keeping my routine simple with also making myself feel nice.

Skin

I wash my face day and night with a gentle face wash and a warm flannel. In the mornings I then apply a hyaluronic serum and in the evenings a richer night cream. That's it, although I'll apply SPF if I'm going to be outside rather than in the house/office.

Nails

I garden a lot so I keep my fingernails short and just make sure they're clean and scrubbed with a nail brush in the evenings.

I do get a gel pedicure every 5 or 6 weeks from end of May to September when I'll be more likely to be wearing sandals. Then from September and throughout the winter and early spring I swap to getting a facial every 6 weeks instead.

Hair

I get a keratin straightening treatment every 6 months at the hairdressers and have my (long) hair cut at the same time but I don't visit the hairdressers in-between and don't dye my hair (trying to embrace the greys.)

Makeup

Brows are microbladed and topped up every 18 months, I don't need to do too much with them aside from that as have very sparse natural brows.

Makeup is simple. Tinted moisturiser, mascara and lip balm every day. If I'm going to work/out I'll add eyeliner and a lipstick instead of lip balm but that's it.

What I need to get better with is moisturising my skin and I've just started adding a body oil after I've showered and also fake tanning in summer (particularly my milk bottle white legs.)
