August wedding. Mostly outside, hopefully in good weather. Hoping to have a bit of a tan as on holiday leading up to it. Size 10/12 with a bit of a mummy tummy.

V-neck dress - Purple/Floral - Ladies | H&M GB

Calf-length dress in a crêpe weave with adjustable spaghetti shoulder straps and wide smocking at the back. Deep V-neckline and a twisted detail at the front for a draped effect. Unlined.

The second one on your list has some potential, the others look unnecessarily cheap.

Next clearance is worth a look and Tesco have some decent pieces at the moment.

boringlady · 13/06/2023 14:27

None they are far too casual for a wedding, u need to look more dressy

cpphelp · 13/06/2023 14:31

Only the first one for me

BringOnSummer2023 · 13/06/2023 14:36

I like the yellow one I agree they're all fairly casual but that's not necessarily a deal breaker unless it's black tie or something! I'd avoid the white or very pale ones as they look quite white and that's a bit of a wedding faux pas.

@RattyHealy the dresses below are all on sale at H&M, some now just a couple of £s above the prices of the dresses in the OP.

I know! I was responding to a snidey comment about fast fashion and H&M. I like H&M.

BCBird · 13/06/2023 15:22

None to be honest. IMO they look.ok.for something casual but not for a wedding.

doitwithlove · 13/06/2023 15:25

No 2 if I had to chose

Only the first one. The rest all look like something to put on over a bikini

Agreed. 3, 4 and 5 look like nighties

Squiz81 · 13/06/2023 15:46

Try the sale section of Nobody’s Child. Personally I’d feel a bit exposed in all of those dresses.

canigetitmyself · 13/06/2023 15:55

Where is the wedding and how formal?

I know people who would wear that to a wedding but they're east London hipster types and everyone wears 1950/ curtains to weddings and parties

I agree - the first one looks the most substantial and appropriate.

supersonicginandtonic · 13/06/2023 11:06

Fast cheap fashion maybe all some people can afford, what a rude comment

Good point and some of the more extreme Nobody's Child dresses that were recommended looked just as skimpy.

caringcarer · 14/06/2023 15:00

I think this is a perfect dress for a summer wedding just add strappy shoes and a fascinator.

Look what I found on Etsy: www.etsy.com/uk/listing/991321455/forties-floral-dress-1940s-authentic?ref=share_v4_lx

caringcarer · 14/06/2023 15:01

They have it in mint green too.
