Which of these (if any) would you wear to a wedding?

August wedding. Mostly outside, hopefully in good weather. Hoping to have a bit of a tan as on holiday leading up to it. Size 10/12 with a bit of a mummy tummy.

Some weird attitudes for 2023!
They all like fine to me? Why oh why is the expectation (still!) that weddings are full of identical looking outfits?

I love weddings full of colour and variety. Most importantly full of people wearing something they feel comfortable in (and haven't overspent buying either!)
At my own wedding we had an amazing mixture of outfits from the very formal to friends in sandals and very casual clothes.
Dh and I were just happy to see everyone and couldn't give a hoot about what people wore.

Op, choose something you feel comfortable and amazing in. Enjoy the day!

starfishmummy · 13/06/2023 12:38

None, they all look like nightdresses

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 13/06/2023 12:41

First at a push. & other stories started a sale today.

SurpriseSparDay · 13/06/2023 12:45

I can assure you that I have no such expectation. But if I were to invite people to my wedding I would absolutely hope that, unless seriously incapacitated, they would make an effort to look festive. Grander than usual. (If I were inviting someone I knew couldn’t afford / access something lovely to wear, I’d make it my business to help them out.)

Brumbies · 13/06/2023 12:46

None, they all look like a beach dress.

mastertomsmum · 13/06/2023 12:49

The last one is the best. For a wedding it would need dressing up with shoes and jewellery and a wrap or jacket/blazer. You’d struggle with wearing a cover up if it’s as hot as today, but without anything it too casual. With the earlier dresses in the list it’s made difficult to judge as the model doesn’t suit the dresses. No one that pale looks ok in pale dresses

Really?
Laughing at 'grander'
I was just delighted to see all my lovely family and friends and honestly didn't notice what anyone was wearing, I just remember lots of colour and big smiles!

otherwayup · 13/06/2023 12:56

Oh and fyi, offering to 'help' anyone out who (in your opinion) can't afford an appropriate outfit is beyond offensive.
I'm cringing for you 😳

Clearly you should have run around checking appropriate levels of grandeur.

Do you get points for ancestral tiaras, family pearls, elbow-length gloves?

lalaloopyhead · 13/06/2023 13:08

I think the first one is lovely OP and could definitely be dressed up with pretty accessories.
Its a bit odd to link to £300 dresses when OP is looking at dresses for £25....

Have you tried the dresses on OP to see how they look/feel?

caringcarer · 13/06/2023 13:09

I don't think any of them are formal attire. They look like dresses I might put over a costume on the beach. I'd pick something with small sleeves not bare shoulders for a wedding.

ladygindiva · 13/06/2023 13:16

I like the second one , the lilacy coloured one. It's got nice straps. I don't agree about none of them being appropriate, they could all be dressed up well enough I think.

ladygindiva · 13/06/2023 13:17

I attended a family members wedding last week in a dress from shock horror George at Asda, as that's all I could afford. People commented on how lovely it was.

caringcarer · 13/06/2023 13:17

I've no idea of your size but eBay has lots of suitable choices on all sizes. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hobbs-hazel-belted-wrap-dress-size-uk-8-in-good-condition-/115831644081?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p4429486.m46890.l6249&mkrid=710-127635-2958-0

MullerInk · 13/06/2023 13:21

Thanks everyone. No, I haven't tried them on. I don't live rurally but live an hour away from our local city and even that doesn't have much. Mostly I get clothes from supermarkets.

Also And Other Stories is beautiful. And I would love to be able to wear them but even on 40% off they are no where near what I can afford.

If I'm honest, none of them. They all look like beach dresses. Sorry to rain on your parade though.

100% what I thought

ZacharinaQuack · 13/06/2023 13:37

There's quite a bit of & Other Stories stuff on ebay in your size and price range too - but I wouldn't risk it (mostly no returns) unless you're going to get the chance to get into the city and try stuff on so you can gauge the fit. Is there a TK Maxx anywhere near you? There's quite often some good stuff in there.

2kids2catsnolife · 13/06/2023 13:43

H&M had some lovely linen embroidered dresses on the hanger yesterday, and a really colourful shirt dress which I've actually ordered online after regretting not buying it in the shop.

SurpriseSparDay · 13/06/2023 13:44

Compared to H&M, Mango seems to have lots of summery things on sale. A few here. Prices on photos.

2kids2catsnolife · 13/06/2023 13:44

Oh god, not H&M - Zara! They were both less than £50 though.

SurpriseSparDay · 13/06/2023 13:46

Three more.

Which of these (if any) would you wear to a wedding?

I think they would be fine if you’re young and wearing a shrug and appropriate head gear.
