Semi permanent make up artists- question pls help

Hi please could I ask if there are any semi permanent make up artists around? I had my lipliner, eyeliner and brows done about 15 years ago.

It's all pretty much faded, but I need an MRI of my head and neck and the leaflet says it's contraindicated if you have tattoos in the area.

I have tattoos else where and the scanning team says it's fine, but for now they have just cancelled my scan until I know about the semi permanent make up.

Is it ok to get an MRI?

Help gratefully received x

Are they scanning your head? I had to tell them about a tattoo I have on the back of my head and also my eyebrows but that was just because the pigment can show up on the MRI as shading.

There wouldn't be any metals in the semi-perm make up I would imagine, unless you had it done in a very questionable place!

The place I had it done was a clinic where I used to work, I was just one of their models but they were all qualified nurses and then further trained in semi permanent make up.

I'm hoping there's no metals in the pigments but I'm not sure and I don't want to ring my old employer and explain I'm having an MRI. They'd be very understanding but it's just not something I want to do. I might get in touch with them if needed.

Yes head and neck MRI - my other tattoos are ankle and wrist and they said that is no problem. The MRI scanner is actually a travelling trailer type thing not a hospital unit, so they are not able to answer any questions just refer me back to the leaflet.

They actually made me feel a bit of an eejit - they technicians kept looking at each other like this 🤔🧐🤨 they said "you have tattoos...on your face?!?" Yes, I sort of do.

When I had it done all those years ago in my youthful ignorance I obviously never thought about needing a scan of my head down the line!

@Pickleasaurus this is the answer i got sorry it took so long

In my opinion you should be fine tattoo ink has 10 microns of iron oxide so can get hot in an MRI machine. Pigment usually has 6 microns of iron oxide! So much smaller particles so not classed the same ! Hope this helps 🤷‍♀️🙏

Pickleasaurus · 14/06/2023 23:08

Ok thank you for asking ❤️

@Pickleasaurus another answer

I had a mri recently and they asked this, i told them id had my eyebrows done over 5 years ago and they said it was fine, if its new ink you can get tingling in the area apparently and a change to the colour. This is what i was told. They went ahead with my mri as it had been over 5 yrs

Pickleasaurus · 16/06/2023 03:08

Oh that sounds optimistic thank you!!

I had mine done a really long time ago so maybe it will be okay. I felt so judged by the staff- although I am sure they didn't mean it, it's just how I felt

Thanks @Ohmylordnotagain for taking the time to ask on that forum, it's so helpful!
