Suncream for face

I've been really vigilant at wearing suncream everyday recently & I've started using Nuxe which I quite like & was thinking it will be great for when I'm on holiday too. However, I got caught in the rain storm this afternoon and my eyes were stinging presumably from the suncream running into my face.
Looking for recommendations for a cream that won't do the same when I'm on hols & in and out of the pool. Any suggestions?

I'm not sure there is anything that doesn't sting at all. I quite like the face mist from La Roche Posay as it doesn't feel like it runs etc but I also find it a pain to put on a I feel like I'm either breathing it all in or, if I hold my breath, about to pass out.

Altruist face fluid is nice, seems to soak in well so maybe less likely to sting? Not given it a proper sweat or swim trial yet.

I love ISDIN 100 SPF (they also do a 50).
Very soothing on the face.
If you wanted a tinted SPF 50, Biarritz is good and comes in 3 shades.

I've just used this for 2 weeks on holiday and it was great. I saw Sali Hughes recommending it in one of her vlogs. My skin has become more and more sensitive through menopause but I had no problems with this.

My other recommendation would be Ultrasun spray for face and scalp F50

@Jakadaal - could I ask does the Ambre solaire leave you very greasy?

Inhave Ultrasun face which I do think is quite gentle but am finding it a bit shiny

Dancingoapin · 13/06/2023 06:53

Oh although I haven’t tried Ultrasun spray - maybe that’s the way to go!

snoozingbaby1476 · 13/06/2023 07:24

Great thank you I'll have a look

I hadn't thought about a waterproof one that might be the way to go.

I’m looking for a mineral one that doesn’t leave a white cast. Any recommendations?

isabelle81 · 13/06/2023 07:51

I've tried loads of different ones, all the top brands and had so many problems with stingy eyes as mine are so sensitive but I finally found a good facial SPF and it's by beauty pie. It's called feather lite I think and is facial sunblock in spf 25 or 50. It's light and amazing as a moisturiser to but no eye problems . I swear by it.

Not sure if it's mineral but absolutely no white cast.

Mamof2boys21and8 · 13/06/2023 08:08

I’m allergic to most sun creams on my face so spend all holiday with tiny, red eyes and tears streaming down my face.

At Easter I got a Clinique mineral face one. Was about £23. Absolutely fantastic, I could see and I could even wear makeup! Held up well in 32°c heat 👍🏻

dizzyupthegirl86 · 13/06/2023 08:20

I’ve heard people rave about the Clinique one as well. I’ve been using the altruist one which I liked but recently it’s started irritating my eyes - not stinging, but making them feel really heavy like I’m super tired. It sounds weird, I know - but it doesn’t happen when I don’t use sunscreen! I’ve read it may be a reaction to something in the chemical sunscreen, so I’m all set to try a mineral one…. Though I’m giving the Biore one a go beforehand because people seem to love it. So far, four days in and my eyes are fine - and it’s lightweight and not sticky as well!

snoozingbaby1476 · 13/06/2023 09:58

Oh great thank you for these recommendations. I think I'll check the Clinique and beauty pie one out too.

I came here to say this one too! It's great! I've tried loads as I have oily skin and this is the only one that's ever worked for me Grin

NotLovingWFH · 13/06/2023 10:15

Another vote for the Nivea anti shine here. New to wearing facial sunscreen and I’ve tried a lot in the last few months and this is by far the best all rounder. Moisturising and does the job without looking like I live in a chip pan and best of all it’s less than a tenner and I can buy it everywhere.

Wherestheheatwave · 13/06/2023 10:26

I use the Nivea one too. It’s really good.

MermaidEyes · 13/06/2023 10:40

Those of you who use the Nivea one, do you use foundation or BB cream over the top?

waterlego · 13/06/2023 10:42

I always suffered with stingy eyes from sun cream. I now use La Roche Posay Anthelios and there is no stinging at all.

Hannahthepink · 13/06/2023 10:46

I've been using the Altruist one and I keep recommending it to everyone because it soaks in so well, doesn't affect my make up and feels really lightweight. My eyes are pretty sensitive and I haven't felt it affect them at all.

catin8oots · 13/06/2023 10:49

Agreed. And I've tried loads.

catin8oots · 13/06/2023 10:49

And it doesn't sting my eyes

spiderlight · 13/06/2023 10:56

I've just ordered this - will report back I have mega sensitive milk-bottle-white skin and burn very easily, so if it works for me it'll work for anyone!
