Leg waxing woes

I've been having my legs waxed monthly for around 18 months.

First wax was great, all hairs out and super smooth. I've never had this experience again!

I've tried different therapists, used different waxes etc.

They're always stubbly, even straight after a wax, and I get proper regrowth within a week.

I've started using an epilator to keep them in check but now I have LOADS of ingrowing hairs and my lower leg is bumpy and sore from the epilator.

I don't know what to do! The hair is much finer than it was but still dark and fairly course. Should I just start shaving again?!

I wouldn't mind I'm not even particularly hairy, just my legs

Do you have dark hair and light skin? If so I'd suggest a home IPL laser hair remover.

My hair grew quickly and I had lots of ingrowing hairs. A few years ago I got a Braun IPL machine and now my legs and underarms are pretty much hair free. Every couple of weeks I spend about 15 minutes just going over them as maintenance but that's it.

I really wish they'd been available when I was younger. I spent so much time and money on hair removal that never lasted long at all.

i could never get away with waxing. Like you I got ingrown hairs and felt stubbly quickly.

i echo what @Lindy2 says above about an at home IPL machine. If you have dark hair and fairer skin it should work well. I have the Phillips Lumea and it’s amazing.

@Lindy2 I might give that a try! Off to look at the machine you've mentioned right now.

Honestly I don't want to spend all summer wearing long skirts and trousers, which is my only alternative 😵‍💫

If you’re having it done everything month, it sounds like it’s too soon for your hair growth cycle. I get mine done every six/seven weeks and don’t get any regrowth for about the first three/four weeks. And even then it’s fine and less than ever. I’ve been getting them waxed for about 30 years and they’ve got finer over time but even at the beginning I left it at least 6 weeks.

@BeretRaspberry through the winter I leave them up to eight weeks, but still have the same issue of super fast regrowth and loads of ingrown hairs

It's very annoying Confused

I never understood waxing. A day or being sore and red, two days hair free than stubble again and not able to wax again for another month.

This is spot on sadly 😂
