Plus size rock chick

I'm going to a concert and want to look my best...but not look 'tried too hard'. I'm plus size and mid 50s. Any suggestions please?

What sort of concert? Any rock concert would just be black skinny jeans, stompy boots and a band t-shirt typically.

Fishnets or tights with a sheen and/or statement skirt?

My friend who's 50 this year and a size 22/24 (?) goes to see quite a few metal bands and wears leggings / black jeans, a band T-shirt and trainers/blue DMs.
I've always found rock concerts to be really friendly and nobody cares what you wear.
Not that I've been for years.

Last rock gig I went to was just black skinny jeans, a black and white striped long sleeve job and DM boots - people really don't get dressed up fancy for these kinds of things. If you wanted to dress up a bit more you could wear leather look jeans or leggings and some cool jewellery.

I know it's an odd thing to say but its true. You'll just have to trust me 😂

It's a very special concert and I'll be seeing the band afterwards. Not saying who so don't ask 😂

I saw and met one of my favourite bands a few months ago and I fancy the absolute pants off the lead singer and even then I wore black skinny jeans, chunky studded boots and the band tshirt even though I desperately wanted him to fall in love with me on the spot and marry me there and then. I think anything much more than that will look a bit try hard and out of place

Thanks Richvanilla. I will dress appropriately it's just finding the right thing. There is history so I want to look my best but not overdone.

No idea of budget but you could try EMP, that's where I get a lot of my rocky stuff. Or Vinted if you can be bothered to sift through stuff!

If you wanted to make an effort you could maybe try hell bunny for dresses but they are EXPENSIVE

Sorry for the multiple replies 😂 you could also do a plain black top/bodysuit with a skirt of some kind, either a floaty one or a skater skirt. Or a studded denim skirt.

My theory is OP had a fling with one of the band members - can't wear the band tshirt because that would be cringe and wants to look her best because who doesn't in front of an ex.

I may be projecting as I have been in this exact situation 😂

If I was going to a concert I might wear a band t shirt but of a different, unrelated band, not the one I'm seeing. Like my trusty Ramones t shirt that has been on many a night out. Would that not be an option? Is it only the band you're seeing that you can't wear the t shirt of?

The right kind of leather jacket says rock chic to me. Whatever it's worn over, really. So, wear the right jacket over whatever you are comfortable in
