What was your last 'treat myself purchase?

Your last purchase that wasn't something you needed, but something you WANTED.

I feel guilty if I buy something I don't need, even if it's only a few quid. I think my last 'luxury' purchase was a £20 handbag!

A teeny tiny diamond and a Smiths t-shirt!

I bought a couple of new vest tops from river island this week. Nothing fancy, but they fit really well and they’re not low cut like most are.

My very first pair of Birkenstocks. They haven’t arrived yet but I’m very excited!

You’ll have to take care to break them in slowly, only wear them for a short time initially just pottering around the house & garden. They will mold to the shape of your feet (may take 1-2 weeks), but will feel so comfy like your favourite slippers eventually .
Do not be tempted to wear them for walking out & about too soon, they will make your feet sore.
I have many pairs of Birkenstock’s Arizona & other styles but I still have to break-in a brand new pair every time.🙂

I bought this dress today for a local boutique, just “for” (pic off the website!)

Spent £64 on the new no.7 future renew face and eye serums and night cream. Also just bought 500g each of cola bottles and fizzy sour dummies which should last me a good while! Tempted on getting some sketchers bobs b cute and trainer socks.

A new food processor. I have an old one, lurking around somewhere in the back of a cupboard…

But this one was a Ninja! On clearance sale! Only £59… And it’s compact, and sits perfectly bedside my Ninja airfryer and Ninja Hot&Cold blender…

lacerated my thumb cleaning the blade this evening, so there is my comeuppance for impulse buying.

Oh which one, could you link it please?

ErinBell01 · 17/06/2023 20:59

Alaska salmon fillet for twice the price of Scottish salmon for my tea. It was reduced but I still felt really guilty.

Yogachick · 18/06/2023 08:35

Bugbabe1970 · 18/06/2023 09:13

My mum left me some money so I treated myself

A tiny coin and credit card purse from Lulu Guinness. I pay by phone for most things but local petrol station is self serve and needs an actual credit card. And I always need £1 for the shopping trolley.

Pliudev · 18/06/2023 10:31

Eyebrows. My last treat was some expensive Viktor & Rolf vari-focals which are pink tinted, see through plastic. My friend (?) said they were horrible and I started to think I looked like Miss Piggy in them. Then I realised my lack of eyebrow wasn't helping, so took myself to Boots for a consultation. £24 later I have an eyebrow pencil. Didn't find out the price until I got to the till.

Pliudev · 18/06/2023 10:38

Tomasinabombadil: does this mean buying second hand Birkenstocks is a bad idea? I was tempted buy some on Vinted but if they've moulded to someone else's feet I guess it's not going to work.

Egghead68 · 18/06/2023 10:49

Charity shop dress for £50 (!)

MrsPetty · 18/06/2023 11:01

Gold Prada sandals for my holiday. A silver handbag that was on sale and I really liked. I’m like a magpie 😂 I love these threads but they give me too many ideas! I had no clue there was such a thing as a ‘Liberty Beauty Box’ but I’m subscribed now 😂

Don’t really know, I’ve only ever bought brand new direct from Birkenstock or new/unused on EBay.
However, having said that I don’t see why not secondhand as long as the insoles don’t look too worn with toes & foot impressions.

See my photo attached, the one on the left I’ve worn (not every day) in the past 4 or 5 summers, so I personally wouldn’t buy a secondhand pair like those.
The pair on the right I’ve only worn a few times, they are beginning to show a slight hint of toe & foot markings, so I’d say these would be ok to buy secondhand.
Hope I’ve helped you make an informed decision, please let me know how you get on.🙂
PS… System not attaching photo, will try to send to you separately.🙄

Don’t know why the photo of my sandals says “sensitive content” 🤣 You’ll have to click on it to see the image.🙂

Pliudev · 18/06/2023 17:43

Tomasinabombadil: I'm sure your feet are very sensitive. Thanks for going to thebtrouble. Sadly I've bought some inferior ones from the Clarks outlet. I'll save for some new Bs another day.
Oh dear sorry to shout. * *

Good luck for your future purchase of Birkenstocks.
I could have posted a photo of my 15+ years old birks but they look quite grim now, but oh so comfortable especially to slip into at the end of the day after being on my feet all day.🙂
Btw… You didn’t shout, shouting in text is when it’s all written in capitals/upper case.🙂
