The Royal diet

How do they do it? It's not just the Princess of Wales, Beatrice is slim these days, as are other European royals, what's the secret? They all look very healthy, well proportionated for their shape with incredibly tiny waists.

It goes without saying they have access to good food/chefs etc but I doubt they are used 24/7 to meet every need (quite frankly, if I had access to such means I would be the size of a house!). They work, but not a routine 9-5 and they have young children whose lives they are very involved in.

Exercise certainly comes into it, but none look like this is done to excess.

Vegan? Gluten Free?

Looking for ideas more than debate!

Why wouldn’t they use a chef for most meals and even snacks? I would if I had the means. Someone to make really tasty, but healthy food for every meal. I find the hardest part of eating well to be all the cooking.

AnnaMagnani · 07/06/2023 18:11

If I had a chef making all my meals, never went to the supermarket or corner shop, plus a personal trainer everyday I'd have a very different body to the one I have.

WhereAreWeNow · 07/06/2023 18:12

I think it really is as simple as having access to the best fresh healthy food prepared by chefs and having personal trainers, 1 to 1 yoga instructors, a gym and pool in your house....
I also think that being the subject of such intense media and public scrutiny would be a real motivation to diet and exercise. If I was followed by paparazzi everywhere I went, I'd think twice before scoffing a pack of biscuits!

Smartnugget · 07/06/2023 18:14

I’m suspect a chef for every meal. I would if I could afford it. Hello chef, I can have 1500 calories a day, please feed me 3 meals?

Half my battle is deciding what to have. If someone takes that away and just puts a meal in front of me, I’d be delighted.

Also, clothes will be cut to fit I think. I also think you will be very aware that you are under scrutiny every time you go out so that could keep you from eating that bag of crisps or chocolate biscuit.

ShanghaiDiva · 07/06/2023 18:16

Chefs, personal trainers, able to afford whatever they want food-wise and an stress-free existence. No need to worry about getting a gp appointment, nhs dentist, living in a good school catchment area etc

hopeishere · 07/06/2023 18:17

Agree chef and discipline. And a massive home gym and scheduling exercise time.

thedevilinablackdress · 07/06/2023 21:45

I don't think there's is a 'secret'. You can be Vegan, Gluten free, whatever and put on weight. PPs have it - eating well, exercising, well fitted clothes, awareness of the scrutiny.

Dinopawus · 07/06/2023 21:59

The thing with having a chef is that they are unlikely to be surviving on microwave ready meals, grabbing a bar of chocolate at the garage on the way home and eating toast late at night because their shift finished late. They also have time and money to exercise.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 07/06/2023 22:02

They limit what they eat, there really isn't any magic diet, it's just extreme discipline, they probably smoke too. Plus access to good food and chefs. Being on the front page of the papers is a real motivator not to have a Mars Bar 😂

LindorDoubleChoc · 07/06/2023 22:09

99% of women in the very wealthy neighbourhoods of London or any other major city are the same. It is either incredible discipline or competitive under-eating or plain old eating disorders, depending on your viewpoint.

JandalsAlways · 07/06/2023 22:13

If I had a chef to male me healthy means it would be easy. Let alone a personal trainer. And not having a real job means plenty of free time too.

All 3 I'd say!

Well, you're nice.

I doubt they have the time or the privacy to sneak into the larder and scoff a packet of digestives while the tea is cooking.

People rarely take photos of me and I always look fat and frumpy, if I was being splashed over the front page and gossiped about it would probably motivate me to starve myself and become skinny.

Theskipisfull · 07/06/2023 22:36

I'd love a PT and a chef, we'd all be much healthier I'm sure

What is it that makes you think people have to starve themselves to be a normal weight?

Wallabyone · 07/06/2023 22:46

Self control <eats Twix with non-typing hand>

Quite!

JaneJeffer · 07/06/2023 22:51

It's all the stress of reading about themselves in the media

JorisBonson · 07/06/2023 22:55

They don't have a 9-5, they can fill their days with workouts and kale.

ejbaxa · 07/06/2023 22:58

Having a chef would make a tremendous difference. They know how to cook quite boring foods (eg cauliflower) and make them taste amazing. I imagine these women are super disciplined as well.

SarahAndQuack · 07/06/2023 23:03

It's very simple. They have lots of money. I agree that having someone available to source delicious healthy food must help. And in addition:

If you are stressed, your body tells you to reach for food (or booze).
If you are tired, it tells you the same.

You imagine what it'd be like never to come home thinking 'wow, I'm shattered' and knowing you need to be awake for another four hours minimum, until the children are in bed. Imagine if, instead of getting home and thinking 'gosh, I need a cup of tea with two sugars and a biscuit,' you got sauntered in feeling quite ok, and someone had run you a lovely bath, made you a delicious juice, and fetched your book so you could sit down for a couple of hours before nanny brought the children in to say goodnight?

Also imagine if you never woke up in the night thinking 'shit! I haven't paid the gas bill!' or 'argh, I think the car is making a funny noise and might break down'.

Your body would simply be healthier because you wouldn't be producing those stress hormones, or eating to give yourself an energy boost when your body is telling you to stop.

toomanyleggings · 07/06/2023 23:13

They are always going somewhere. If you think about how you might eat in the week or days leading up to a big event where you’re going to be photographed and it’s important to look good you probably eat in a much more disciplined way. It’s like that nearly every day for them plus what others have said about chefs and pts etc

PickAChew · 07/06/2023 23:16

I can afford to buy lots of lovely fresh food but I'd still have to cook the bloody stuff, myself. I'd be much less likely to resort to gluten free crispbakes, frozen veg and bisto if I had a personal chef.
