The Royal diet

How do they do it? It's not just the Princess of Wales, Beatrice is slim these days, as are other European royals, what's the secret? They all look very healthy, well proportionated for their shape with incredibly tiny waists.

It goes without saying they have access to good food/chefs etc but I doubt they are used 24/7 to meet every need (quite frankly, if I had access to such means I would be the size of a house!). They work, but not a routine 9-5 and they have young children whose lives they are very involved in.

Exercise certainly comes into it, but none look like this is done to excess.

Vegan? Gluten Free?

Looking for ideas more than debate!

There was some publicity about Bea's dietitian a couple of years ago. I'll see if I can find a link.

JeandeServiette · 08/06/2023 18:31

Here. She's been in the news as "nutritionist to PB" for at least three years, apparently, and she's now plugging a book.

I still think the in-house chef is half of the battle.

Simple: time and money

Hubblebubble · 08/06/2023 18:43

I had a one on one fitness class recently, because nobody else turned up. It really is a different experience. They have access to that whenever they want. Not to mention horse riding.

EmeraldFox · 08/06/2023 18:56

It's being able to afford the best organic nutritious food and avoid UPFs. Maximum nutrition for minimum calories. If you don't get the nutrients you need then you will want to eat more.

I'm a healthy weight and I try to buy the best food we can afford. I make my own kefir and sauerkraut but I can't afford all organic or bakery bread on a regular basis. I have to maximise nutrients on a budget.

MrsKwazi · 08/06/2023 19:00

I did private nursing at a while for a London Agency that provided servoces to ‘high net worth’ individuals’ and ended up live-in at landed gentry thpes after hil and knee replacements, etc. Just for a couple of weeks at a placement. Was an eye opening experience and sometimes straight out of a period novel, especially the northern shooting estates.

They really prioritise sport and being active. I guess that is easy if you have help.

Lunch is literally two new potatoes and half a chicken breast. Dressed crab and salad. Desert would be a small piece of cut up fruit and a sliver of cheese, whereas I would eat half a camembert in one go. Portion control.

People are busy. There is not time to sit and eat and eat. Better things to do with their time.

Tea at 4:30 pushes supper back.

No snacking. Ever. They only eat when they sit at a table.

They will eat high quality, organic and mainly unprocessed food I'm sure...but, that's not enough be thin. You need small portions too. I could eat slice after slice of organic, artisan bread and still get fat!

I stand corrected! Recent ones? Pass me a Marlborough Light.

I think Harry gave up when he married. Kate was still smoking after she got married, I assume she gave up when she decided to have a baby but who knows if she restarted on the sly.

99% of women in the very wealthy neighbourhoods of London or any other major city are the same. It is either incredible discipline or competitive under-eating or plain old eating disorders, depending on your viewpoint.

Why would it require any of those? Incredible discipline not to overeat, seriously?

JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon · 08/06/2023 19:20

If you look at pictures of Sarah Duchess of York in the 80s and 90s and reflect on the fact that the press were merciless in calling her fat.

Then pictures of the Queen Mother and note that she was also called fat (even as a young woman)

Oh and look at some of the things that were said about Beatrice and Eugenie if you go back a decade or so.

It is no wonder really that Kate is so thin

Nutritious food means you get less hungry as your body has what it needs. Rubbish food makes you hungry and still malnourished. If organic artisan bread is a novelty then you likely will want to eat more of it at first but not if that's what you can eat everyday.

@Comedycook But poverty and obesity are linked.

NOW. But in my lifetime, in the slums of Britain, obesity was almost unheard of. Poor people were more often underweight.

Well obviously I meant nowadays...and in developed countries.

What's changed is the availability of cheap foods with plenty of energy but devoid of actual nutrition. Real food must have still been expensive before this rubbish food became available, or people would have been able to afford enough to eat. The option of buying the rubbish just wasn't available.

SophieinParis · 08/06/2023 20:14

They just eat less! When I eat less, I get nice and slim. That’s all there is to it!
If I do a week of yog/fruit for breakfast, small box of sushi for lunch and a small sandwich with fruit and a herbal tea for dinner, then I lose weight and look slim.
Beatrice and Eugenie have had access to personal chefs/gym etc etc their whole life, but they are only now quite slim. Because it clearly has become important to them.

Fizbosshoes · 08/06/2023 17:35

People are talking about being a size 8, 10, 12 etc which is of course healthy....but I'm pretty sure Kate is not a size 8 or 10, more like 4 or 6. Her waist is tiny.
She obviously has good genes and is tall but id imagine she is super disciplined/restrictive about eating. VB has also been mentioned and I would say she was borderline anorexic. I think it would be very stressful having everything (your hair, face, figure, clothes, behaviour, parenting etc ) analysed and I think that would be enough to make you very strict about food.

VB is known for eating a variety of grilled fish and veggies everyday - at least thats what DB says

That doesn't disprove anything I've written though? She is clearly very strict and restrictive and possibly has an ED

powerpufff · 08/06/2023 22:51

I was not disapproving
Just commenting on her very limited diet
Basically green juice fish and veg
Sorry:)

Or because for the first time there is a drug available on the market that is seemingly safe and truly effective at weight loss if you can find and afford it.

No one on this thread should be made to feel bad that B & E supposedly have some magical level of self-discipline that the rest of us can’t achieve when the far more logical explanation, given the timeline of Beatrice’s rapid weight loss, is she’s been injecting semaglutide (and good for her if she feels better and healthier!).

Itisyourturntowashthebath · 08/06/2023 23:25

@OverCCCs Beatrice got married three years ago and she looked pretty slim then. She had a baby and got back into shape, with the help of her friend the dietician.
Why do you have to be so rude?

eurochick · 08/06/2023 23:37

Time is key. These people don't work 5 days a week and commute.

I had six weeks between jobs a few years back. I went to the gym everyday for a workout and swim, often a sauna too. I made all my food from scratch. I wasn't stressed so I wasn't comfort eating. Then I started my new long hours job, some days didn't have time for proper meals so ate energy bars from my desk drawer, often didn't have time for exercise and was tired out when I finished work. If you have time it's easy.

Peverellshire · 09/06/2023 00:08

At 18-25 I could eat anything & lots of it. Tiny waist, etc. It becomes MUCH harder post meno.

Re: injecting drugs, I doubt it. Time & money - does PB have much more now? Is Edo ££?

How in the world am I being rude? I’m just not falling over myself to believe that despite years of photographic evidence that money (and the diet, gyms, nutritionists, trainers, rest, etc. it brings) wasn’t enough to get Beatrice and Eugenie to a slim size, their respective weight losses just so happened to coincide with the availability of legal, affordable, and accessible drugs. It’s not rude, it’s just logic.

Previous posters are going to damage their self esteem if they think they can’t lose weight like B&E because they don’t have access to the same wealth and associated resources. Nope, they can if they realize the weight loss cause is almost certainly not better self control or better lifestyle choices. It’s damn amazing drugs that are relatively easy timo get now.

MakeYourself · 09/06/2023 06:30

When I had the spare cash I employed a PT and that was incredible for my fitness and body shape. It was only once a week for a few months because that was all I could afford.

I imagine if I had the money to employ one to come to the house 3-4 times a week, I'd be looking pretty good too!

troubg · 09/06/2023 06:53

Most of my friends in their 50s and 60s are slim.

As slim as Kate in photos?

These threads are always weird with no middle ground. Not being thin doesn't mean you are overweight.
