these trousers? I wear a lot of navy, so was thinking navy top, navy linen blazer and navy shoes/leather fit flops, but open to other suggestions.

Must you? They’re so depressingly drab! And all that navy you suggest would just look heavily conservative.

I take it you’re not in the UK? I looked briefly through the trousers in the Sale section - it was hard to find anything inspiring at any price. Do you have access to any other online shops?

OhBling · 07/06/2023 11:24

I wouldn't wear navy with those. The white shirt in the picture is nice. Or I'd go with a white/off white t-shirt/top of some sort. I'd probably go casual with a jacket - a bomber jacket perhaps or a denim jacket, if it was a lighter blue.

FelicityFlops · 07/06/2023 15:07

Well I suppose I am heavily conservative, sartorially and no, I am not in the UK.
I do have a white linen top. I will need to see the trousers in person to decide if they are viable, though.
Afraid I have never been into denim or bomber jackets. At 64 they might both be pushing it and don't really go with my "lifestyle" 😉
But many thanks for the input, food for thought indeed.

Certainly a beach summer vibe, it looks fresh with the white top, cream would look good, or the right shade of coral be it a cropped jacket or long flowing open vest (sorry name not coming to me at the moment).
I’d be adding some straw, hat purse and shoes.

Aixellency · 07/06/2023 15:41

Oh dear! It was only an opinion on a pair of trousers - not your entire character and lifestyle! Grin

But (speaking as someone of the same generation as you) I don’t think women in their 60s here have any qualms about wearing denim, or even a stylish bomber jacket if it suits them. It may be different where you are?

I find browsing a few websites such as

https://www.alexandragolovanoff.com/en

help to assure me (if assurance were ever needed!) that I can still dress exactly as I want.

These Acne Studio trousers have a similar colour scheme to those you linked - so there may be some styling ideas here.

I don't think I they're drab at all but they do have a sort of acid wash reminiscent tinge to them that could be a bit draining in the wrong light. I'd counterbalance with something bright and crisp in colour for a bit of contrast but if you want to stay a bit more neutral and classical in keeping with your tastes I'd look for a summer knit with texture, like this.

I agree with others on the navy, it needs lifting not muting. If you prefer dark colours on top then maybe a good dark green to pick up on the outlines of the pattern like this linen jumper

OhBling · 07/06/2023 16:16

If you feel that you can't wear denim or bomber jacket - what about a linen jacket in white/cream or the colour of the pattern, with a white shirt/blouse?

For the record, I quite like the trousers!

Famzonhol · 07/06/2023 16:19

I like them too and I think they’d be nice with navy.

FFS so rude and unhelpful

Aixellency · 07/06/2023 17:20

Rude? I said I found a random pair of trousers on a random website drab. And that I couldn’t find any trousers on the same website that were any better. And, as the website appeared to based in Germany I asked the OP if she was not in the UK. (Because it might have been pointless to suggest sites that were inaccessible to her.)

I’m at a loss to understand how any of that was rude. This is a discussion forum - why on earth would any poster have to pretend to like an item of clothing on a website? And how on earth is my opinion on a pair of trousers hurtful to you, @JaneJeffer?

JaneJeffer · 07/06/2023 17:33

Did I say I was personally hurt? The OP didn't ask for an opinion on the trousers which she likes and is happy to wear. She asked what to wear with them.

GettingStuffed · 07/06/2023 20:22

I'd go with an orange or rusty red , buth I suit those colours not everyone does
