Shorts, always wanted to wear em, but never have.

No idea why, but i didn't like wearing them as a child at school so i think it just stuck..

I am 48, slim, but have very white legs and a slight wobble as not entirely toned. And of course this is no big deal, but i dont exist in a vacuum and old self esteem issues die hard!

Anyone else like this? Do you just say sod it and wear them? Do you tan them (fake or real)? I am not after perfection and dont even know what that is, but am a little bit hesitant. I have a couple of nice pairs and as the weather gets hotter i just want to throw them on with a nice top and get out there.

I know no one else cares or is even looking, it's just my own mind really.

I forgot,very pale blue eyed blonde, front white now,also had skin cancer. I use Johnson's holiday skin,pale/medium to start with,then medium/dark.

I love my shorts and I'm 60! My favourite kind is cool linen. I even have a shorts suit! My legs are probably my best feature. I have a horrible tummy!!

For years I wouldn't wear anything sleeveless but a few years back I discovered that my arms weren't bad at all - so now that's pretty much all I wear in the summer (for those few days!)

Long shorts (misnomers?) look daft on women with short legs for sure.

I am 50+ and wear short shorts

mostly denim shorts (from AND/OR at John Lewis)

I have tanned legs as I am outside a lot.. in my shorts… so it sort of just happens

I know sun is bad for you but all the things I love are outside based (walking, gardening, tennis and kayaking)

so yes I feel bad about the tan but I-use sun cream and I still tan. It looks nice maybe? But surely pale is better and healthier

This is me. Love my shorts. I do size up so they are a loose-ish fit.

my legs are short for my height but I'm relatively tall. I think I find in all lengths except "short shorts". I can't see how maxi dresses are comfy, either.

Mid 50's I love shorts except the Bermuda ones which are really aging imo. Fake tan is ok but all skin colours look good if you wear the right colour. I love denim, paper bag waist and those tailored ones. Upper thigh but not bum length.
I'm pale but we go abroad a lot so have a slight glow that lasts most of the year now even though I use factor 50.

I love a pair of shorts! I wear them year round.

Wear them with a vest and a long thin cardigan if you're worried about your legs.

I just bought my first pair of shorts in over 30 years! I tried a few pairs on in M&S & ended up with some mint green boyfriend ones. I have fat knees so tried the bermudas & the 'magic' ones but they weren't as good.

I mean if the main worry is the white ness of the legs, but some tanning spray, slap it on after your shower with a bit of Body lotion, rub it in and go? Takes 5 mins tops, lasts a few days but which time if it's been hot enough for shorts you will have acquired a bit of natural colour anyway.

Or else this works perfect legs. Like make up for legs. Works a treat.

Just west the shorts mate. Other people notice you far less than you think, and care even less. We are our own worst enemies when it comes to this sort of thing I think!

@itsmeagainagain ive found the solution to this-yoga shorts which look like regular shorts, slightly looser fit, but with an inner cycling short. I got them off Amazon for £18. So comfy and dare I say flattering and they don't go anywhere!

I have short, white legs. They're not thin either but I would say they're relatively well shaped as quite muscly. Either way I most definitely do not have lovely long slim tanned legs. But shorts are amazing! So comfy in summer. And there are so many styles, I love linen ones which flare out a bit (flattering, don't ride up). Wear the shorts! Honestly no one else is really spending any time thinking about what your legs look like.

When I say I fake tan my legs it doesn't so much make them brown (my legs seem completely immune to all colour whether that's from the sun or a bottle) but does make them not white, maybe a v v pale golden if I'm lucky. I find the beauty pie mousse lasts pretty well, isn't orange and doesn't tend to streak, and the st tropez gradual tan is also v v good.
