Shorts, always wanted to wear em, but never have.

No idea why, but i didn't like wearing them as a child at school so i think it just stuck..

I am 48, slim, but have very white legs and a slight wobble as not entirely toned. And of course this is no big deal, but i dont exist in a vacuum and old self esteem issues die hard!

Anyone else like this? Do you just say sod it and wear them? Do you tan them (fake or real)? I am not after perfection and dont even know what that is, but am a little bit hesitant. I have a couple of nice pairs and as the weather gets hotter i just want to throw them on with a nice top and get out there.

I know no one else cares or is even looking, it's just my own mind really.

To be fair, the veins are pretty extreme - we’re not just talking about a few here. I’m incredibly self conscious of them.

My legs are also really white and if I fancy a bit of a bronzed look I just use a tinted moisturiser that builds with time - the St Tropez one is great! Also Dove but I found it a bit shimmery. I found I only need to put it on every few days (when I remember haha) and it stays for a while.
Just don't forget to wash your hands after. Made that mistake a few times 😅

Ah i understand, i have a friend with similar and she has always avoided showing her legs. However, it takes some brass neck to openly stare. It isnt as if it's unheard of either. Sod them!

I wear short for most of the summer. Don't care! They are practical and comfy.

I agree - it’s broken veins, nothing more! Some people are very rude though.

I love shorts! I don't have model legs by any stretch but I think they're comfy and can look good. Obviously there are different styles and cuts - super short, long, baggy, smart, cast, etc.

Some bronzer/self tanning cream helps if you're concerned about blinding people with your paleness!

Unfortunately I look like a member of the Hitler Youth in any style of shorts. And yet I keep trying them on....

I joke that my legs are so pale they reflect light onto other people! For years I let that stop my showing my skin at all on my legs.

Now I reached the spectacular level of being a woman - middle aged and uncaring of what people think of me. So now I wear shorts.

Guess what? I've had the same reaction as not wearing shorts. Nobody cares, it was all in my head.

Put the shorts on, don't worry about whether your legs are too pale beyond possibly needing suncream.

Yes, if you are big of nork and short of leg, like me, they are pure Trunchbull (analogy nicked from a PP on another thread, but spot on).

If I have to wear them, mid-thigh length, with a wide leg are the least hideous. But light cotton harem pants are so much flattering - and keep the mossies at bay too.

I love shorts because with skirts in summer I can, sadly, suffer from a bit of chub rub (even though my legs are, overall, thin - it's that top of the thigh rubbing I still have).

I can't be bothered with proper fake tan but I do use those clarins fake tan drops in moisturiser once or twice a week. My legs do not look tanned, but they also don't glow in the dark so I consider that a win.

I'm 5 foot tall , curvy with big wobbly thighs and I love wearing shorts .

I am a size 8 on top and just wear a tight vest so it shows off my hourglass shape and use bondi sands one hour tan ..

I don't care what people think but I did notice someone looking at my legs the other day which I thought was odd because why do you care what someone else's legs look like 🤷‍♀️

I actually think on hot days you stand out more if you have long trousers on .

Wear the shorts !

I wish I could wear shorts but it doesn't matter what style I choose they just ride up as I walk and I'm constantly having to pull them down - does this happen to anyone else??

@CherryPosset I'm very very pale with blue veins. I have blonde reddish hair. I've embraced my paleness and decided to tell myself that my skin is porcelain. I've embraced it and wear what I like shorts,vests etc with no fake tan or gradual tanner. I wear SPF of course but I like being pale it's different. I'm 51 and wear shorts with my very white legs. Go for it after a day in shorts you'll never look back and I bet you look great xcc

I wore short shorts a few weeks back with wedges and got a few looks but I don’t care as they were appropriate for the weather and years on from now if I shied away from them I would regret it more. I’m pale too but I don’t let it stop me. Wear them, be comfortable and be confident!

I overheat so shorts are essential in summer.

I gave up on most women's shorts about 40 years ago. Men's shorts are much nicer.

I’ve embraced shorts for the first time in about 20 years this year! I’d say go for it OP - I’m also very pale so have used some fake tan but must admit I get less diligent as summer progresses. I did debut then aboard first 😂

I’ve got large scars on my legs but have decided just not to care. Shorts are linen ones from John Lewis. Relatively short but a bit flared ( so I guess a bit skirt like). Now I’ve started I’m loving them and even bought a second pair! Am even wearing them with a relatively cropped white linen shirt as they are high waisted!

I would love to be able to wear shorts. I simply can't. Legs are too fat and worse - too short! Literally not actually length on my thighs to speak of. So l look simply ridiculous

I couldn't wear them as a size 10 either so it's actually not a fat issue.

In my next life I swear I'm coming back with normal legs! I cried last year when I realised that DD had inherited her dad's legs and not mine - because she won't have to deal with the legs I've had all my life. Also I felt a little cheated that I've not had it so easy.

I bought 3 pairs of the Next linen boy shorts for my holiday and they were so comfy and easy to wear. Being on the short side they are longer on me.

I'm 62, short and not slim, chubby knees, one leg is sort of blotchy... the other week I wore shorts while having my first ever attempt at punting which is about as public a spectacle as I can imagine.

I like wearing shorts.
I'm not young
Not slim
Not tanned

I am happy to be - and stay - pale skinned. I never use fake tan and don't sunbathe.
