Hunter Chelsea ankle boots - stylish or naff?

Lagirl20 · 06/06/2023 14:27

Are these stylish or naff? I can’t decide!!
I would wear them for walks on weekends, autumn winter, with laid back clothes - jeans, baggy jumper, etc.
I can’t decide if they look cool or a bit naff.
help! What do you think?

I think they are fine.

Brumbies · 06/06/2023 14:34

They're great when mucking out the horses.

A fashion item, they're naff.

snowlady4 · 06/06/2023 14:42

I think they're nice for walks in parks/fields/dog walks etc but, if it's a nice chelsea boot you're after, I think you could get something more attractive and less 'welly-ish,' for your money!

TheMurderousGoose · 06/06/2023 14:44

Good for rainy dog walks. I wouldn't wear them to the pub.

xogossipgirlxo · 06/06/2023 14:48

They're not stylish, but definitely practical if you need them for muddy walks etc.

Agree!

I have Hunter wellies and use them for when I need wellies... these are even less attractive in my opinion so fine for muddy walks but not to wear to the pub or work.

Zhougzhoug · 06/06/2023 15:21

Pleasant and practical rather than especially stylish, but yes quite nice and better than a full welly. I think I prefer the Tretorn ones and the Stutterheim rain walkers (I think they're called) but tbh I wouldn't see those as fashion either.

fairycupcakes · 06/06/2023 15:29

I like them! I have very similar ones but they are Barbour. I use them in autumn/winter for walks in areas that are prone to being muddy or at the farm or out and about in nature or camping etc. Essentially anywhere you would wear the more traditional welly :)

fairycupcakes · 06/06/2023 15:31

So yeah they aren’t Chelsea boots per se, very much a welly type boot x

CaloundraBlues · 06/06/2023 15:32

Yeah I don't think they are Chelsea boots, I'd say short wellies

cfmtb · 06/06/2023 16:10

I wear similar walking the dog. Don't think I'd want to wear them for anything else, they're also not that comfy or supportive for whole days (in my opinion anyway) - suppose bit like wellies with even less ankle support!
Joules do some nice patterned ones.

diddl · 06/06/2023 17:06

If you need wellies but don't want a longer pair I would say fine.

If you want a boot for walking I would think something sturdier.

IWonderWhereThatDishDidGo · 06/06/2023 17:08

I also think they are short wellies rather than Chelsea boots.

I wouldn't have that much use for them and wouldn't wear them anywhere other than a big, muddy walk. I've got long boots for that and prefer how they look (and more importantly how they keep water out)

Moveoverdarlin · 06/06/2023 18:21

They’re a welly, not a Chelsea boot. They’d be good for wet walks. I wouldn’t wear them for anything else.

toodlesofoodles · 06/06/2023 18:44

I have a Barbour version of these and wear them as I would wellies. I have some leather Chelsea boots to wear as fashion items.

NowItsSpring · 06/06/2023 18:47

Functional rather than stylish.

Delphigirl · 06/06/2023 18:51

Good for dog walking/ garden, wouldn’t wear them much further afield. Might wear them to the coop but only if I had a dog with me as cover 🤣

DuchessOfSausage · 06/06/2023 19:23

For that sort of money, I'd get proper country boots like some of
these.
The Barbour ones are cheaper, and I expect better quality but I'd get leather ones.

The hunter ones look like something from tk maxx

FabFitFifties · 06/06/2023 19:34

I've neber seen the point of short wellies

User18540964 · 06/06/2023 19:39

They are like welly type thing, usually they end up in the Next sale as they are probably unloved, I bought some from Next sale once as they were quite cheap, I wouldn't pay full price for them

User18540964 · 06/06/2023 19:43

I wouldn't get them from HOF on principle, have you seen the delivery and collection charges

SlightlyJaded · 06/06/2023 20:29

I have these for walking the dog. I love them because I have quite chunky calves so wellies are always snug on calves and wobbly at my ankle. These fit like an ankle boot does so much more comfortable for me and I wear them all year round - with dresses and tights as well as with jeans etc.

But strictly as and where you would wear wellies.

So walking dog: yes
Festival: yes
Going shopping: no

Oakiedoakie · 06/06/2023 22:08

I have the Barbour version of those. I got them for muddy winter walks, muddy dog parks in the winter etc. I was tired of my regular boots or trainers getting destroyed. These are so easy to clean, also surprisingly comfy. Wouldn't wear them going into town shopping, maybe a quick pop in somewhere. I found regular tall wellies too uncomfortable to walk long distances in.

CindersAgain · 06/06/2023 22:17

If you want a ‘look’, then I don’t think they’re right.
You’d be better with a proper Chelsea boot or a posh walking boot type. I have Camel active boots that have tolerated getting muddy a lot.

This sort of thing.

They're short wellies and also shit quality over the last few years.
