Do you put Converse in the washing machine?

I've always thrown them out and bought new ones but now with the prices of everything I think I've been profligate - have you washed them? I thought of putting them on a gentle wash with some towels or something - anyone done it?

Yes I've done it many times. Just chuck an old towel in.

I wash mine all the time, thirty wash and then hang on the line. I've never had a problem with them

Why do you put a towel in?

nebulae · 05/06/2023 15:29

I put them in an old pillowcase and tie it up before putting them thru the wash, just to stop anything getting caught.

Why do you put a towel in?

I thought they would rattle around in the washing machine and unbalance the drum.

Yep on a quick wash

bibbingo · 05/06/2023 15:49

Yep I always do this!

RosaBaby2 · 05/06/2023 15:52

Yes just on a normal wash. I scrub the white bits first.

murasaki · 05/06/2023 15:54

Need to do mine, do you take the laces out please?

soberfabulous · 05/06/2023 16:22

Put them in a pillow case and make sure the drum isn't empty. All the banging about can damage the drum.

TravellingJack · 05/06/2023 17:29

Those zip-up pillow case protectors are great for this. Last time I didn't have any handy so shoved one shoe down each leg of an old pair of leggings. I usually put it on with about a half load to prevent too much banging/potential damage.

@murasaki I do take the laces out of the shoes but put them in the machine (tied and tucked inside something so they don't go missing and break my machine).
